Fury exhibition

The Fury fight was a joke. Wasn't Price or Audley available? They are much better looking tomato cans.
He'll fight a couple chumps and then Charr for the reg WBA belt. Or maybe Fres Oquendo.

It's only a joke if you were (for some reason) expecting something more. Fury was out of the ring for over two years, had ballooned up to the size of a coke-fueled micro-bus, lost something like 70 pounds and was still the heaviest of his career. Why on earth would anyone expect this fight to be anything more than what it was?

How the hell can Boxrec put Tyson Fury at number 3 in their rankings after that performance. So many issues with the rankings on this site. 31 months out of the game and fights a cruiserweight and then gets a top 3 ranking. Utter bullshit.

Been on this forum for over a decade.... and it still amazes me how people still can't figure out how the rating system works..

Fury deserved a rust shaking fight but a four rounder. The ghost of Butterbean.
Still, when he loses another 30 lbs, we shall see,
I hope he comes all the way back. He has far more charisma than anybody currently in the division.

He was extraordinarily unfocused in the ring. He was looking observing the crowd far too often instead of working on the ring. I was glad when the referee sternly warned him to knock it off.

What were the purses?

Seferi's should be held up.

He had the look of a fighter who came in intending to sit it out after sampling a few shots.

Did he give a full and honest effort?

Butterbean came into my head as well when I was watching the fight.

He joked around and lets see where this goes from here for Fury.

Total missmatch still better then the chumps Haye fought.

I was just trying to dig it but couldn’t find anything. But as I was searching, I came across the info re Haye-Bellew purses.

:o
No wonder why this even happened even though Haye was 10% of himself. Crazy.

How did Seferi compete and go the distance with Manuel Charr? One judge scored that fight 116-113. What does that say about Charr?

LMAO, and Charr is currently preparing for a WBA world title fight vs Fres Oquendo!!

Charr has never been anything special. I didn't think this was news. My rankings don't go that far, but I doubt I'd have him in my Top 30.

And yeah Charr vs Oquendo being for a supposed World Title is one of the biggest jokes ever in the sports history. Two guys that aren't even Top 30. One of whom hasn't even fought in near 4 years competing for a World Title? It's beyond a joke, and the title should mean absolutely nothing to noone.

Where do you have Fres Oquendo in your rankings?

Charr vs Oquendo is the worst heavyweight title fight since Tommy Morrison defended his WBO belt against Tim Tomashek in 1993.

Nowhere. He's inactive. He wouldn't be Top 500. I don't rank inactive fighters.

Charr was at the Fury fight and should be able to beat a 45 yo Oquendo and then cash out against Fury in December.

Don't discredit the sport by referring to Charr-Oquendo as a heavyweight championship fight.

If the WBA wants to invent fake titles in its eternal quest for sanctioning fees, so be it.

But boxing fans should turn their backs on this type of rubbish and call it what it is--a pedestrian matchup between an ancient, semi-retired one-time fringe contender, and a "champeen" who decades ago would have been bowled over quickly by limited Basque strongboy Urtain.

When Fury got on the Heavyweight scene he was a fairly funny guy on social media, but after watching him interviewed in the last year or so it appears clear as day what he's up to, there's also a well known European promoter who is probably addicted to the same thing and doesn't quite realize how bad he looks.
They make no effort to hide it either or are unable to conceal it anymore, it's embarrassing and makes me cringe just watching it.
The time has passed when I thought Tyson was a loveable rouge type of person and he has just become annoying now, yesterdays fight was what we expected but much much worse.
His antics in the ring during the first 2 or 3 rounds were not funny, not even accidently funny and it looks like his mind is a bit warped and he's convinced himself it's entertaining.
Hey that's up to him if he wants to believe it but someone needs to have a quiet chat with him and let him know just how bad he really looks.
But for those of you who enjoy it go right ahead and fill your boots, I think I'll swerve this guy thanks all the same until I see some kind of dramatic change.

Uh... he had a 649 rating before he went on a period of inactivity. This was after dominating the greatest heavyweight of the 2006-2016 era.

Fury has a 330 rating after the Seferi fight, but he had a 330 rating going INTO the fight. He literally gained 0 points from a fourth round stoppage, which boxrec considers to have a clear decision factor of 1 (i.e. 100% clarity of who won the fight). You never lose any points when the clear decision factor is 1, even if your opponent is a debutante. If Fury kept beating poorly rated opponents, eventually he would get hit by a poor opposition penalty (which he clearly already got hit with while he was inactive, and he's looking at getting hit with it again around November 2018 I believe, if he doesn't fight a good opponent before then).

Same. So many people come on here, and they're like "I can't believe that the artificial intelligence that uses screen recognition to watch the fights rated him at #3 after actually 'watching' the fight." The elo-style boxrec formula doesn't "watch" the f*cking fights.
