If Whyte/Parker Does Good Numbers....

Then Eddie Hearn can sell anything. It's a good match between two fighters who can't draw flies to a dump and are not even must watch in the trade.
Coupled with the fact that the flimsy undercard's chief selling point is a rematch of a 6 rounder between a journeyman and a novice I am convinced, if he pulls this off, he is in some way a genius. I know it sounds patronising, but it would be incredible.

Pretty sure it won’t do good numbers, but I agree that if it does, Eddie deserves a Salesman of the Year award.

Brook on undercard. No doubt against some scrub. Can't see this selling well. If it does then fair play to all involved. I won't be buying it.

Yesterday on an IFL clip Eddie said "it's the most important fight in the HW devision outside of AJ Wilder, that did make me giggle

This will be a sell out and will probably do well on PPV. Don't underestimate casual fans who are suceptible to all the hype pumped out on SKY Sports News and shows like the gloves are off. Eddie makes the fights, SKY sell the sh*t out of them. It's a model that works for them. SKY get their money whilst Eddie gets the credit.

It's the most important heavyweight bout in July at least.
Former champ Parker has opened a slim -130 favorite.
If he's going to win, he'll have to turn it into a stinker.
And that's what it will probably be.

It's a very good fight but it isn't the second biggest out there and it's not big enough to be a PPV imo

How popular is Whyte?
I'm not a fan, and I have no idea what his following (if any) is in the UK.
The undercard is a stinker so far.
Brook against a "who"??
Taylor misses out on a unification and faces a lady way below her level.
And Benn, the guy who couldn't convince me he won against that French journeyman and now rematches him. Big woop. Actually I'm hoping Cedric gets a fair judging this time.
Ugh!
I want to see Parker/Whyte, but paying for one fight, it's a bit cheeky.

Not much hype for either guy at this point. I think the problem here is that they both already got beaten by Joshua. There is not much interest in either rematch.
Makes this match kind of meaningless.
I am not sure that Parker can afford to run in this match. If the fight is close it will probably go to Whyte. He most likely has the judges at hes pocket. So Parker needs to win this clearly and if he tries that it will be a good match

Can't believe this drivel is on PPV. I have literally no interest in any of the fights - this looks like hastily arranged rubbish, barring the main fight, which is between two guys who are mediocre at best. PPV my arse.

It is a piss poor card thus far and none of the fights are overly exciting, outside the main event. Nothing about this card screams PPV.
But how many PPVs will they need to sell to consider it a success? 70 thousand? 80 thousand?
That may well be doable.

You make an interesting point.
Parker has sold 30,000 PPV's in NZ in a non title fight against a slightly lesser known opponent. Given that Sky Box Office sells Parker fights for $49.99 NZD (£25) - that's £750,000.
So 3/4 of a million quid for New Zealand alone. Add ticket sales at the event and your easily at a million. So it really didn't need huge UK PPV numbers to make a profit. Let's say 100,000 @ £20 a throw. That's an easy 3 million pounds conservatively speaking.

Indeed, and it's not like they are spending a fortune on the undercard either.....

Obviously it shouldn't be PPV... but I sense Edward is experimenting. He's not exactly short on confidence is he, and as others have said, if this sells well he'll have learned a little more about how far he can push this shit.
I personally have bought every Matchroom PPV in recent years, every single one (even Bellew Cleverly 2) but no way am I buying this.
Its not about the money its pure principle. Nothing whatsoever about 'Whyte v Parker' is PPV worthy. They don't even "hate" each other....not even for the cameras.
Really ridiculous. Hope this one bombs.

The fight itself isn't a bad matchup , Regards PPV , well Eddie keeps digging himself into a hole and its getting deeper , He needs x amount of ppv shows to keep the paymasters happy . But he doesn't have the ppv stars , so whats he to do , easy build fighters up and make them ppv fighters , problem is he now has 2 of them fighters on the show that now demand big money , ala , Whyte and Brooks , But there not good enough to fight anyone he still has to be selective to keep the wins , Its gonna get worse for him when he has to supply even more fighters for this new American model
.
Over time I think ppv is going to damage boxing more so than anything else

I think that has already happened.
Casuals don't even know the top names because they are behind a pay wall. And if you don't know the guys they won't pay. And so the cycle continues.

I think that as time goes on most boxing, sports in general in fact, will become PPV.
The cost will go down but rather than paying a subscription for a general sports channel, people will pay for the fights/football matches/races etc that they want to see.

Once they put Mercer vs Ferguson on PPV back in the 90s, I accepted that any bout is PPV material.

Del Boy vs Takam is on there now.
