Fury did not duck Ustinov; he dropped out the fight because his wife had a miscarriage. There are some things more important than boxing.x2x wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 21:48
Fury's comeback fight was really an exhibition. At least his sparring partner/opponent didn't disgrace himself like David Haye's two comeback oponents did by pretending to get knocked out.
Fury did duck Ustinov. He was scheduled to fight him and they even held the presser and then Fury stood him up, because his uncle or whatever he was passed away. But now Ust has only fought twice in 2 1/2 years. Should be a real fight though and an interesting one with two goliaths. The script, of course, says Fury wins easily, but it could be interesting.
Is was the death of his uncle. If I recall correctly.punchoutsb wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 23:08Fury did not duck Ustinov; he dropped out the fight because his wife had a miscarriage. There are some things more important than boxing.x2x wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 21:48

Some guys fight through personal tragedies and others don't. I would never blame a fighter for not fighting after losing a baby. As I said, some things are more important than boxing. Ustinov wasn't rescheduled because he was a late replacement for Chisora--after Fury pulled out they just rescheduled Chisora for four or five months later.x2x wrote: ↑15 Jun 2018, 01:13punchoutsb wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 23:08Fury did not duck Ustinov; he dropped out the fight because his wife had a miscarriage. Other fighters have fought right after personal tragedies. As they say, the show must go on. At least the Ustinov fight should have been rescheduled but it wasn't. Couldn't Ustinov have sued for breach of contract? To me it looks like Ustinov got screwed. Also, this is the first I've heard of the miscarriage excuse. They were saying everyplace that it was because he was very close to his dying uncle. And I'm a guy who likes Tyson Fury!
Well, that’s not how I remembered it. But your article does reference the below. I reckon Fury was coked up the night before and didn’t fancy it.punchoutsb wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 23:47https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/other ... uncle.htmlLoki wrote: ↑14 Jun 2018, 23:43Is was the death of his uncle. Yes, his uncle did pass away about three months after the fact. Everyone knows his uncle was hospitalized right before the fight; his wife also had a miscarriage around the same time. They just weren't blowing horns about it.Loki wrote: ↑16 Jun 2018, 04:07Well, that’s not how I remembered it. But your article does reference the below. Ustinov took the fight on a weeks notice. Miscarriages happen, I'm not really sure what's so unbelievable about it...x2x wrote: ↑16 Jun 2018, 22:07Loki wrote: ↑16 Jun 2018, 04:07Well, that’s not how I remembered it. That sounds like it's a hell of a lot closer to the truth than those other ever changing excuses. Ustinov would have put a lot of time and money into prepping for that big fight. Didn't they have a contract? Don't they have any sheister lawyers in White Russia, like for breach of contract?
