Theoretically a bit unfair, but who really gives a damn? I guess, Usyk doesn't also. He'll go and perform anywhere. Rooting for him.

Go, Murat! If Usyk fights Gassiev like he fought Briedis, Murat stops him.

Usyk should hire Anatoly Lomachenko to prepare him for this fight. He won't beat Gassiev with the style that he is developing since leaving James Ali Bashir. He can outbox him if we see the style he used before - moving a lot, working with his jab and countering. If he tries to saty in there and trade with Gassiev like he did with Hunter, Huck and Briedis, he will have a lot of troubles.

Usyk ddefeated Glowacki in Poland, Mchunu and Hunter in US, Huck in Germany and Briedis in Latvia. Now facing Gassiev in his homeland. This man doesn´t f*ck around :D :D This fight would be a thriller because Gassiev is a savage :box:
Edit: winner of this fight would become first undisputed cruiserweight champ of the world since Evander Holyfield if i understand ?

CW superfight, up there with Holyfield/Qawi, Toney/Jirov & Haye/Mormeck.

I can't wait for this one & I'm going for Usyk.

Was Holyfield the undisputed champion?

Gassiev will start the fight cautiously. But he fights like he did vs. Lebedev, he will definitely lose.

Not theoreticaly unfair, but quite practically. They are making Usyk, the number one seed go fight in:
1. Gassiev's home country (Russia)
2. A country (Russia) that is fighting a coercive war against Usyk's country (Ukraine)
3. A country (Russia) that has illegally annexed a province of Ukraine from where Usyk is from and was born in (Crimea)

To me this look like a big fat practical middle finger in pointed in the direction of Usyk from the organizers of WBSS.

..I would certainly prefer a neutral country in ANY boxing match of this magnitude and no, it has nothing to do with Crimea...I just hope and I'm almost sure the Russians will have the decency and common sense not to appoint up to 4 local referees/judges to officiate ..

I don't think, it will affect Usyk. He's high level athlete, he has the mentality to deal with it. The real problem can be in the judging, so he should win convincingly. The other stuff is secondary, if not less. Btw, I'm Russian, but I root for him. And maybe I'll even attend the bout.

I am very confident Usyk is going to win. I said so before the tournament started and I've seen nothing to cause me to reconsider.

If he is able to beat Gassiev, he is CW No. 2 ever. Holyfield is No. 1, of course.

Agree. I am curious what approach Usyk choose against Gassiev, because that guy is beast + he is skilled boxer too. :box: :box: :box:

If Gassiev beats Usyk and Briedis, I don't know what Holyfield did at CW which was more impressive than beating Lebedev, Dorticos, Usyk and Briedis.

Had the official announcement last night meaning they have announced the fight at three weeks notice, and tickets are still not on sale. Massive fights are set 10-12 weeks in advance.

I think it's madness with the World Cup taking place.

I just want this fight to happen without any issues.

Just imagine if Usyk were as impressive a puncher as he undoubtedly is, a boxer. I think Eddie would be worried even if AJ wasn't.

Read the last paragraph of the official announcement.

My honest opinion regarding Usyk at HW in the near future : He would defeat all modern day HWs except Joshua, Wilder and Fury. It is too late for Povetkin and Ortiz, and too early for Dubois and Hrgović.
