OK Brits. Talk to Me about your boy Josh Kelly

Is this kid for real or should I not be THIS excited? I have never heard of him really but just stumbled upon some tape and I absolutely love him. And can’t stop watching him. One entertaining style.

With this guys looks and ability, he should already be a name here in states and reeling in ass and dough.

He looks decent but I think talk of him being a great is too much

He could not have been matched better for 7 fights though.

Let's see where he is at the end of 2019 then we will know how good he is.

He's great in terms of entertainment value and looks like he has all the talent to go a long way.

He can definitely become a big star here, but he's not widely known to the non-boxing fans yet.

Have you seen his 3rd(?) pro fight? Ended him in the first, picked up a slight injury on his right elbow so ended it in just over 90 seconds with a 7 left hook combination. The speed, balance and confidence he maintained whilst throwing that was a pretty sight.

ya a lot of ppl started jizzing themselves when he threw that combo, that might actually be the standout/most memorable moment of his career, no doubt hed look good on a heavy bag

he looks good for sure and has been matched well. is he special though? not sure, need to see him still at a higher level, a guy like molina at this point is a jouryneyman/gatekeeper and the much less heralded prospect (then kelly) carlos adames did a better job on him then kelly and dropped him twice, w/o getting anywhere near the same type of 'hes special' stuff

id like to see him settle down a bit more. more jabs and fundementals, and not so overly herky jerky and loading up on single shots. also feel his power might be a bit wanting as he moved up levels. but defo some standout athleticsm and talent there. very interesting to keep an eye on

lewis ritson is a much more exciting prospect imo, though i dont necessarily mean in terms of potential, but entertainment value. i feel like ritson will be one whose wins and losses will be spectacular

Fight seemed a fix. After he knocked him down, the corner was telling him to stay down. Making hand gestures.

Very exciting. Bags of potential. Too early to get carried away though.

tbh i havent found his last few exciting. to me he seems like the type who can really look super flashy and exciting vs vastly outmatched opposition, like when he threw those 7 hooks, but vs anyone who can hang in there a bit he sort of becomes a herky jerky potshotter

I meant his potential excites rather than his style. As much as I'm entertained by the hands down, hit me if you can, matador style, I always find myself thinking "You're going to come unstuck when you take on someone of real quality, mate".

Tbh As much as enjoy the journey, I prefer to be 'emotionally invested' in boxers who are more orthodox and traditional in their approach i.e. keep a defense that isn't reliant on lightning reflexes which won't always be there.

Exactly what i was looking for guys, thanks. I shouldn't be this excited but it sounds like he's about to turn up the notch of opposition and we can really see what he's all about. There's so many nice fighters across the pond right now. One item on my bucket list is to attend a big time fight there as it looks like a blast.

I’m not convinced by Kelly yet, his best win is Molina who has been losing to anyone with a pulse lately. I’d like to see him in against Skeete for the British title, assuming he still holds it...

7 fights in and to what he is doing is unreal. He’s moving at a ridiculous pace and personally I think he will get better with when better fighters are put in front of him. The fact that Adam Booth has said he is the most talented fighter he has worked with speaks volumes. I’m very excited for the career he has in front of him and his style is so easy on the eye.

He just have 7 fights. Get at least 5 more decent B class oponents. Then step up in oposition and chase world title shot :box: :box: :box: . His boxing style is attractive, but that hands down isnt something which will help him against top guys in the division.

Kelly shows a lot of promise.
With some careful matchmaking he can have a really decent career. His style is nice, but it is the type of style that a seconds break in concentration could have him on the canvas if a heavy hitter is in with him. I'm sure we have all seen the hands down reflex fighters come a cropper at one time or another.. Given time and coaching he should develop more power and better defence.

Kelly dominated Carlos Molina a while back as a pro and today I watched a free streamlink from France where Molina was dominated even more convincingly by African prospect Souleymane Cisshoko.

Cisshoko was a Bronze Medalist at the 2016 Olympics and looks to be very promising as a pro too!! :OhYes:

carlos adames also won every round vs molina and dropped hm . molina bascally a journeyman/gatekeeper for good prospects now
