Maybe Mikey wants to drag down Spence to 140/144 lbs or it's just a marketing gimmick to promote himself ? Or maybe he's using Spence's name to distract the attention of the people/media to keep asking him to fight Lomachenko ?

seeing how loma looked vulnearble vs linares i think mikey should be very eager to fight him, seems to me like a good risk vs reward fight

Lol Mikey is former FEATHERWEIGHT. Spence seems like a natural light middleweight to me. That fight would be a big mistake. Garcia will get destroyed and Spence will get no respect for beat such a small fighter. Similar: Is Golovkin better boxer than Terrence Crawford ? Probably not. Would Terrence get destroyed in their fight? Definitely. Weight divisions are here for a reason

It is even more difference, because Loma startet as 126 pounder, which is only one weight above Rigo. But Mikey was 126 pounder for a long time and he was seemingly chubby at 140. Spence is big even for 147 and he is just all of ripepd muscle. That size difference would be far more factor than Loma - Rigo IMO.

First Mikey should fight Loma then he could talk about fighting GGG/Canelo II winner or A.J/Wilder winner.

I think that there's more of a back story with this one. I wouldn't be surprised if Mikey and Spence sparred at one point in time. There has to be some reason why Mikey would go out of his way to inject this notion of a fight. Maybe he, his Brother and Dad see a fatal flaw in Spence's work that they know that they can exploit.

Interesting point and I'd like to know if these guys sparred together. And if it's true what would be that flaw ?

Mikey has been talking for quite a while about fighting welters.

Before it was Thurman, but No Time has since disappeared.

Garcia is an outstanding fighter. Outstanding fighters believe in their skills and ability to overcome great challenges.

Mikey Garcia probably has no doubt that he can compete with Spence. That's what he should believe.

Maybe Spence is just too big and strong. Mikey Garcia apparently disagrees.

Great fighters don't limit themselves. They reach for the stars.

It's greatness. If Mikey beats Spence, he would without a doubt be P4P 1. Why not take the chance? Great fighters take great chances. We've seen bigger upsets/surprises than this and neither Spence or Crawford are as invincible as they are being made right now. Best today? Yes. Invincible? no.

True. I don't put any stock into gold medals though as Olympic Boxing is the most corrupt event in history. After what they did to Holyfield and Roy, I vowed never to watch again or put any stock into them medals.

So Mikey still wanting to fight Spence Jr at 147 next. Let's see if he's just talk and hype.

For me the Lomachenko fight it's far more appealing.

Mikey should stay at 135 and try to become the undisputed champion. Spence is naturally much bigger and stronger, and he would destroy Mikey. I would newer allow this match to happen.

I agree, Spence has more interesting options against the guys of his cathegory. While Garcia can take the 3rd belt in his weight and then fight Loma for the undisputed championship.
