What the hell is this fight being put together for? Could be some seriously swollen gonads for the protagonists – two men steeped in the art of the dirty tricks.

I mean, if I was either fighter's manager it would be the one fight I'd avoid like the plague, but then again, Norman Stone is a dick so what do you expect?

Saying that... the sicko inside of me says it will be like watching a WWF scrap with real animosity and no script.

Oh... and who'd want to be the referee for this one???

There'll be so much grappling.... I suppose you might be able to compare it to a bickering husband and wife combo on Come Dancing who are going through a bitter divorce and full of hate for each other but have made it to the grand final and decided to go through with it!!

sorry, just makes me mad, Its fights like this that contribute to the dimise of boxing. Nothing worse than someone who dosent usually watch the sport sitting down in your house grabbing a beer then being subject to a byrd oquendo or ruiz rahman snorefest.
I took great delight in watching the tua ruiz fight straight after the 'night of the undisputed' just to re-confirm to myself that there is a boxing god and he must just be taking some leave.

I'm going to be the lone voice of dissent, and say that this could actually turn out to be a good fight. I have a feeling golota might just pound ruiz into submission, I picked him to beat Byrd, and i wasn't that far off being right.

In Today's climate, Golota has a pretty fair chance of winning a title, and he's marketable too.

I think Golota will surprise everyone by fighting clean and hammering Ruiz, he has the handspeed and the power to do it. It will be Ruiz getting penalised.

Byrd flattered Golota I think, he's really on the slide I expect him to get beaten.

Agree with everything said here. Oquendo "beat" Byrd by a more conclusive margin than Golota did (so I have been told) and Oquendo couldn't beat Ruiz.

Disagree about the power - he had Byrd on the ropes all night long during their recent draw and was able to connect no small amount of times, but I didn't see serious power there - Golota's a classic example of the fact that armsize doesn't correlate well with punching power. To generate real KO power you've got to be able to get those arms moving fast, and get your weight behind your punches.

I agree though that this fight could wind up surprising those who predict a boring foulfest. Note that I said "could," not "will." ;)

This has turned out to be a slobberknocker. But wait, what is Vince McMahon doing here? My god, he must be in league with one of these men but who King? We may have to wait til Monday night Raw to find answers. If this isn't heinous, I'm a government mule.

Golota's a big strong guy, so's Ruiz of course, but if Golota can walk Ruiz back when he gets grabbed then Ruiz might actually resort to punching.

Look at it this way, if you hate both Golota and Ruiz, you get to see one of them lose, and possibly lose the chance to be a top-level contender.

Also, is this fight going to be just for Ruiz's title, or is there another big-name opponent lined up for whoever wins?

Golota was rusty as fornicate when he fought Byrd, I honestly think the Golota that brutalised Bowe would kicked the shit out of Byrd. Byrd was in better fighting shape and is a good defensive fighter.

I remember watching Golota on the way up through the ranks and he was frightening, big, strong, a good two fisted puncher, very aggressive and for a man of his size fantastic hand speed. I believe that golota is even now good enough for most of the contenders out there. Mentally there are some serious issues, but i don't think many of the current heavyweights are good enough to withstand a good assault from golota.

you know what, you might call this petty. But, after meeting both fighters saturday night at the Trinidad/Mayorga fight....i totally dislike golotta. Ruiz has my vote; he's definately about the fans and not about just himself....or at least he came off that way saturday night.

Yes, but Golota's English is terrible isn't it? He is probably jus shy and not that comfortable around people.
