What currently active fighters would you say fall into the slugger style?

At HW and with his size, if he was a slugger, none of his fights should go past 6 rounds.
He arm punches, and cuffs too much

I'd say Miller's more of a swarmer.

Sluggers just don't make it that high up any more. A well schooled boxer usually makes a fool out of them at the elite level.
My pick is Hank Lundy.

Good call, I have to agree.

Francisco Vargas boxes a little, but he's more of a slugger than anything else. So is Mickey Roman.

Who's that?
Surely not Lemieux?
Or do you mean that LHW prospect? ( I can't remember his name either)

Cletus Seldin. Yeah, I can see that. But not just a slugger though.
I'm a fan, entertaining fighter. And anyone called Cletus gets my red neck moxy up :-P

Haha it’s a classic name. Can’t say I’m really a fan or a fan of sluggers in general. He got given a significant lesson last time I saw him fight. Bit of movement really destroyed his game. Not sure really if he is more than a slugger....care to elaborate? Mind you I’ve only seen him fight twice.

I wouldn't consider either Madaina or Mattysse sluggers. I look at Madaina as a swarmer, puncher with a good jab, but not really a slugger. Madaina was actually a pretty disciplined fighter for someone who fought as aggressively as he did. Mattysse also a puncher, but he's a boxer puncher, not a slugger at all, he's too fragile to be a slugger.

Provodnikov is Def. A slugger who was always looking to get into a exchange and mix it up. Same with Brandon Rios but not quite as crude as Provodnikov.

I am probably too biased to make any credible comments regarding Cletus. I do think he has reasonable defence, but as you said, he can't chase down a guy on the move. In his defence, he got up of the canvas 3 times only to lose by 1 point on all 3 cards, which says he can box a bit too :maybe:
As for Joe Smith Jr :shame:
You leave him out of this.. Can't have you dissing two of my favourite Americans in one thread

Haha apologies! Smith I believe is more intelligent than your common slugger but end of the day he’s still looking for that big bomb...which is not necessarily a bad thing.

And Not to say he doesn’t have other qualities and not to dismiss him as a fighter altogether. It’s just a style. I have a particular style I like to see for personal reasons

Obviously he’s done well and is very strong. Loved what he did to Hopkins lol!

I wouldn't call him that at all. He can counter, fight off the jab, and use educated pressure. Very underrated fighter. A slugger is more like Lemieux.

beterbiev for me isnt far off

he may not slug all the time--he was more measured last fight---but in a lot of fights hes just been going in there throwing big power shots like hes hunting for a stoppage. often very little jab setting it up and just wallking straight in with bombs

I agree. He is technical. But he can slug it
