I'm wondering the sounds of applauses, cheers, hits, etc. in old b/w footages of Dempsey, Charpentier, Jack Johnsos, etc. are original or just added in the studio?
Anyone knows?

The sounds in those films for the most part are dubbed in. The earliest known sound film of a fight is Mickey Walkers middleweight title defense against Tommy Milligan. Until the 1930s you had very few with sound. Also keep in mind that sound film was not invented until 1926 or 1927 so anything with Dempsey, during his career, was not legit.
