Some odds on Stan James betting might be worth a look

Davarryl Williamson is 9/2 to defeat Wladimer Klitschko
Verno Phillips is 13/8 to defeat Kassim Ouma

and if you fancy a real outsider Mike Stewart is 7/1 to defeat Ricky Hatton.
you never know, Ricky could get a bad cut, I think under WBO rules the fight wouldn't go to points in the case of a cut.

Interesting indeed. I really dont give Williamson much hope though, he has absolutely no chin and he'd need to absorb some punishment to wear Klitschko down as Brewster did. Klitshcko will win easily and early.

The Phillips/Ouma fight is the only one i'd be interested in. I think it's almost certain to go the distance, and at that price Phillips could be worth a few quid.

I agree with 007, on the face of it Wlad will win early, i think i went for round 2 or 3 in the prediction league. At those odds it's not really worth going against Wlad, unless you've got money to burn.

i agree Williamson that he may need to take a couple, but Sanders didn't, blew Klitschko away.

Verno philips is on a good run at the moment, he has lost to Ouma before but seems to be on top of his game at the moment.

as for Mike Stewart, against Mitchell he was chasing shadows, will be a different case tonight, Hatton as we all know fights only one way, and has said before that he finds it hard to get himself up for this type of opponent. think i might have a tenner on this one.

Ouma is on a hot run too, fancy him to win this but it'll be close..

Touch Of Sleep seems to get a large amount of his sleeping done in the ring, and I think he's in for another early night with big Wlad.

I'm backing Mendoza to beat Alvarez this time, on the NY card. But again, it'll be a close one.

Stuck some cash on Mayorga at 13/8. He's being written off everywhere, but I like his chances here. Not your first choice of opponent after 2 years out I'd say. An iron chin means he should hang around long enough to give Tito a real test..

I'm rooting for Philips, he ought to be better than last time but whether that's enough we'll see on the night (well, we'll read about the next day anyway).

If Williamson beats Klitschko I'll eat my keyboard. The guy steps up as an amateur against Savon - KO'd in 1. The guy steps up as a professional against Mesi - KO'd in 1. He's old, small and still holds his chin up like a novice.

I think we're going to see Mayorga shaken up for the first time in a while. Trinidad hasn't forgotten how to fight in 2 years, and he never really relied on expert timing in the first place. Got to favour him.

phillips/ouma should be 5/6 for each fighter, it's a real pickem. for some reason (probably the bookies have seen that ouma has already beaten phillips) ouma is 2/5.

I would bet on phillips, but i think mayorga has more chance agaist trinidad so i bet on him.

The real irritation is not being able to bet on wlad in round 1 with blue square. I would have been confident with that one. Can anyone actually see williamson getting out of the 1st round, considering he failed miserably against JOE MESI?

John Ruiz was once sparked in a round but has a decent chin.

I'm always cautious of judging a guys chin on one result.

The question is what happens to Wlad if he doesn't put Williamson over in the first four rounds...?

you can get 100/1 for any round if Stewart wins inside the distance too.

I'm not convinced Mayorga's chin is 'iron' though, its very good but I saw him buckle a little when Forrest hit him a couple of times in the rematch. A straight right from Forrest or Tito's left hook, I know which I'd rather avoid given the choice. Mayorga still good value though really as we don't know how rusty Tito is and how thats gonna affect his performance when Mayorga charges him. It could be a quick night for either guy.

The one I like is Vanderpool over Lacy, its been a good year so far for the unheralded veterans against the popular hype fighters...

Yeah but Dave, Ruiz was fighting a young David Tua not Baby Joe Mesi, who hasn't exactly shown himself to be a thunderous puncher above club level.

It's not just the result either, it's the way Williamson responded to to being hit harder than he'd ever been before. He was flailing around like Jason Collins in there.

I'll be absolutely amazed if Williamson survives more than 2 rounds.

What happens in a WBO title fight if one fighter gets cut by a accidental clash of heads, does it go to points or is it awarded as a cuts stoppage?

I like Hatton inside schedule at Evens (B365). Not overly excited tho. Would much prefer to see Ouma v Philips tomorrow. Should be a cracker.

Phillips > Ouma and Vanderpool > Lacy are good bets. Mendoza - Alvarez is a tough one. Perhaps, Alvarez wasn't properly prepared for Mendoza in the first fight and used his escape card. The two fights since make me think Alvarez can use his height and reach to help him edge out another decision. Saying that, if I was betting I'd put money on Mendoza, as my flyweight predictions have been a bit, erm, inconsistent in the past.

Okay Dave ya got me (sort of). I was pretty much going on the assumption that Vlad would be in good form. Sounds like he's got next to zero confidence these days. I still couldn't imagine the fighter who turned up for Ray Mercer having any trouble with that bloody Williamson.

Anyway who cares, Tito is back!!
