Ruiz wins every round. Or close to it.
Both fighters are heavy (Ruiz is always heavy but actually lighter than he was for Parker) so it figures to be very slow paced overall.
Just a bout to get Ruiz some rounds. Nothing exciting here.
I don't believe this bout is televised. It's on the card that ESPN is televising.

I don't know if he's "been finished" for years exactly. It's more like he was never all that good in the first place, and just kinda fights to survive instead of win when matched tough.

Kev Johnson just gets over matched as a top 50 gatekeeper.
Ruiz has only ever beaten 1 top 50 fighter.
It was a great match up. Ruiz cant beat much better than Johnson.

In a month from now, there will be someone who clearly didn't watch this fight spouting nonsense about how Ruiz can beat Joshua.

Maybe the rematch.
But last night (in boxing) Ruiz won a unanimous decision over Johnson: 99-91 and 2 scores of 97-93.
I didn't see it but have a hunch that it was something less than an instant classic.

Are you referring to Joseph Parker? I thought he won that fight, though it was too close to call a robbery.

No he lost to Joe Parker both officially and in my opinion, but he did win rounds off Parker. It is the Parker loss that gets Andy Ruiz all his cred.

If the 97-93 cards are accurate then it's worrying that Ruiz could lose 3 of 10 rounds to a past prime Safety Pin.

I was thinking the same.
But you wonder if Johnson really earned some rounds, or if the less than optimally conditioned Ruiz maybe took rounds off to conserve energy.
In other words, Johnson didn't really win rounds. Ruiz simply gave some away.
If anyone here witnessed the bout, maybe they could shed light on how it went down.

He's been gifted with (the usual) fake judge decisions. He didn't really beat Liakhovich either. At best it was a draw.
