Warren should grant Michael Gomez his wish. Let him end his career with a big fight. Don't think Gomez has much left in the tank, fit or not fit. I fear for his health in a war with a big name and normally I'd be dead against a fighter wanting to do it... but in this instance I say "Do it Frank, give him his war".

A rematch with Alex Arthur is more likely. But I'd love to see a fired up Gomez get stuck into a big name and cause some fireworks. The problem is picking the right one. Even if there's little to none chance of it actually happening, who would you pick?

I don't want to see him versus Morales or Corrales. How about that bloke from Thailand that's making a name for himself as 3-K Battery? Or recent Morales opponents, messrs. Chavez and Hernandez? Or even Barrios?

Agree completely, though I think he can cause some of the B tier guys problems if he comes in fired up. It's really just a question of who he'd last with the longest. I'd only like to see him in with a recognisable name because it looks like he could get beat soon by a noname and his career would end in obscurity.

Thats the thing.

If Warren keeps him in matches that he's "certain" to win, he'll lose one of them and fade away. He should get a big shot and cash out.

Lets face it, he's not going to the top. He's going to get beat soon, so let a top guy beat him, rather than a fighter who noone knows.

I shuddered when Gomez mentioned Morales' name at the thought of what would happen to him. A fight with Erik would boot Mike into retirement rather than let him pass there with dignity.

I agree. If Barrios really made a name for himself after the Freitas fight and hasn't faded in the memory over there - a Vegas undercard fight against him would make for a great show and final bout. It would be competitive while it lasted too.

I remember saying some time ago that this "rejuvenated Gomez" talk is crap. He fights exactly the same as he used to, he does the same things well, and has the same faults. There has been no improvement post-Arthur, in fact he is nowhere near the fighter that first won the British title. He has to get a big money fight sooner rather than later, because there's another Bognar waiting round the corner. Another defeat at this sort of level, and those big money fights may well have gone for good.

That's the thing, I think this paranoia of seeing the likes of Hatton and Gomez beaten is justified in Warren's mind only. If Hatton or Gomez lost a world title challenge to a Tszyu or Morales you would think that only 10 people would turn up to the MEN for future fights.

British fighters have lost top level world title challenges for years and still gone on to enjoy lucrative careers when promoted imaginitively by a promoter who can put good domestic fights together.

If Gomez lost next week to Morales a fight with Arthur would still be very very marketable.
