DAZN & Matchroom deal

There was string of announcements at the Tuesday's press conference to reveal various aspects connected to Perform Group's DAZN streaming service.
Perform Group signed an eight year deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom USA, who are going to provide boxing content for Perform's streaming application.
Hearn has entered into several multi-fight deals with numerous fighters who will appear on the service in the upcoming months. Ring announcer Michael Buffer has signed a multi-year deal to work DAZN events.
The streaming service will run $9.99 a month - which is double of the newly launched ESPN+ streaming service which showcases the majority of the talent from Top Rank. DAZN's service will launch on September 10 with a one month free trial.
As BS.com reported a few weeks ago, the first Matchroom card on DAZN, will be Anthony Joshua's defense of the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles against mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin on September 22nd at Wembley in London.
The first Matchroom USA card, taking place on U.S. soil, will happen on October 6 in Chicago, with IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev making a mandatory defense against Callum Johnson.
Hearn made a deal with promoter Yvon Michel for a three fight co-promotion of Beterbiev.
Also part of that show, and also signed to multi-fight deals with Hearn, former world champion Jessie Vargas will appear in action, Katie Taylor will defend her IBF and WBA lightweight titles against Cindy Serrano.
The next Matchroom USA event will happen on October 20 in Los Angeles with Daniel Roman defending his WBA super bantamweight title against Gavin McDonnell.
Matchroom have made a deal with Roc Nation Sport for a co-promotion on WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice Hooker, and they hope to have him face mandatory challenger Alex Saucedo as the co-feature of that event.
Heavyweight Jarrell Miller and former junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade are being positioned to fight in October as well. Andrade appears to be heading to the Chicago card, while Miller could appear on either date.
The above was from BS. What do people think? I think it’s a decent start but I was expecting a little more.

There were rumours of Keith Thurman and Mikey Garcia doing the rounds in recent weeks making this a bit of an anti climax, but this is a reasonable start.
DAZN is interesting, a UK based company that broadcasts sport to countries all over the world and seems intent on expanding into every major territory, except the UK.
Not sure why that is

Interesting that he's got a deal with Beterbiev. Doesn't he have some sort of relationship with Bivol? Definitely had him on a Monaco show once. Wonder if he could make that fight down the line, would be a cracker.

Mikey Garcia has a fight lined up. He said he’ll make a decision after that but he’s got plenty of offers and is in a very position.
It’s interesting that they’ve got Buffer signed up on an exclusive deal.

I just signed up for the Canadian version for a free month. It works fine with a VPN
For USD 10 per month I'll be having a piece of DAZN USA when it launches
WBSS, SKY PPV cards, Matchroom US and UK cards, bellator and loads of other crap
All for less than the price of a pint over here. No brainer

I must admit, given the amount of money Hearn has been given I'm not exactly dazzled by the current crop of signings
Of course it is early days into an 8 year deal, but you would expect some big names put into the launch?

So is this a way to watch the boxing on sky without having to subscribe to sky and sky sports ?

It’s not in the UK
You install something like Express VPN which costs about USD 7 per month and allows you to switch your location to wherever you want in the world. I use it to watch BBC I Player over here in Norway.
You turn the VPN to somewhere in the U.S and sign up. Whenever you want to watch it you just change the VPN to the US and away you go.
I have just tried it now for the Canadian DAZN and it worked fine.

I get the sense from the pre recorded Kugan interview that he may have been expecting to name a few more but its taken longer than expected. As in that he mentions a few more will be signed in next 10 days or so for the LA show.

Then again look at it the other way you have to start somewhere - same as the UK and build from scratch.

Mikey Garcia & 2 x Charlo’s will be his target. Garcia and Spence both have 1 fight remaining with promotors.

ppl overestimate what being a big player in the us constitutes, doesnt mean you have to have everyone
having a group of world class notable fighters already puts someone in the mix, jacobs, miller, andrade, beterbiev, vargas, etc, thats not a bad start at all

Interesting to see that Jessie Vargas say that Al Haymon setup his deal with DAZN.
A lot of people, maybe even Eddie thought this deal would be to compete and prise fighters away from Haymon's control. But it looks like he'll be working with Haymon with certain fighters.

Don't worry AJ we have a big money kid we're about to sign so the WBA will put them up as a future mandatory so you can ignore Wilder a bit longer

Its a very underwhelming start to a supposed billion dollar deal.. they will have on going issues attracting top fights to the platform due to it being a subscription non ppv platform..

Do you reckon if your billing address for payment is not in the states it will still work ?

Given all the bragging Hearn wad doing about this deal and Matchroom/Dazn taking over boxing in the USA, how one big name after another would be signed, the stable of fighters he has so far signed up is, lets be honest, sh*te!
