Lacy KOs Vanderpool

Jeff Lacy and Syd Vanderpool went at it in a slugfest tonight in Las Vegas. Lacy's power proved to be superior as he battered Vanderpool in the 6th and into the 7th. The ref ended up stopping the fight in the 8th round when a staggering Vanderpool was not throwing back.

Surely this announces Lacy on the world scene? No challenges for Calzaghe at SM? Seems like another one to add to the list has arrived.

Brilliant result for Lacy, apparently Vanderpool was in contention until the midway stage. I picked Vanderpool to win as I thought Lacy had been too protected and would find the step up in class a bit too much. Apparently not as he passed with flying colours... I think there's lots of great fights to be made at 168 sans Calzaghe, who must be seen as a nomark fringe titlist on the world scene, despite maybe being the best of the lot. Can't work that one out.

Good win for Lacy. I thought he might edge it on points, with Vanderpool giving him some problems throughout the fight. By all accounts, after the first couple, it was one sided.

From what i've seem of Lacy it'd be hard to bet against Calzaghe, if they met, which they won't. But aside from Calzaghe, i'd give Lacy a more than reasonable shot with anyone else in the division.

Unfortunatly we are more likely to see Calzaghe Vs Vanderpool than Calzaghe V Lacy IMO.

Calzaghes career path has been very disapointing over the last few years. I'd would rather see a rematch with Robin Reid or a fight against Howard Eastman than his next opponent.

I have little hope left that we will see the talented Welshman in a 'superfight'.

Sad but true, I'm afraid. :(

Lacy's footwork is still questionable, it's interesting to see how he does against a boxer and mover, someone like Mundine would run rings around him. If you stand and trade and get hit by that monster left hook then you are in trouble but i don't think he deals too well with movers.

I wonder is Lacy is still wearing those dodgy gloves. Every Lacy fight I have seen both him and his opponent look to be wearing sparring gloves. They look like freaking ballons.

But one punch from Lacy would probably spark out Mundine could be interesting, I'd back Lacy for sure.

True enough but that's we thought Echols would do to Mundine and he got outboxed for the majority of that fight so it would certainly be interesting.

"Comfort Zone" Calslappy won't take this fight, Lacy has a pulse. Danny Green v Jeff Lacy sounds good to me. Calslappy can rot in Wales for all I care.

Lacy has better skills than Echols from what I have seen, and Echols is a middleweight really Lacy is a big super middle.

Totally agree Lacy Vs Green would be a slugfest and both there chins would be tested.
