Can't believe it! This fight sounded like a war :o Knockdowns galore, blood, staggering  Trinidad is back with a vengeance and will no doubt be gunning for Hopkins, i am glad Trinidad won even though i backed Mayorga, Trinidad is a welcome re-addition to the division while we all know what Mayorga is capable of anyway, sounds like he still comes out of the fight with a lot of credit despite being stopped for the first time.

Yes, it was a dandy. Close on the scorecards early with the dubious (but accurate) kd of Trinidad but Tito was clearly in control after the 2nd and lookedas good as ever, albeit against a guy tailor made for him. I don't like Mayorga, but it was his bravado that made this one special. Man, he's a tough sob. Took an ass kicking though.

Who says middle weight is devoid of talent. He's back...

But that performance, good as it was, might not be effective against Hopkins. That's why we need that fight tomorrow. Let's hope it gets made on merit and not as a DKP superfight, because Hopkins is still the man and should get to call the shots. He'd take the fight for 50-50 with a big guarantee. Let's see if King can make it. No doubt he'll insist Tito gets a 70-30 split because he's so popular.

Yeah, Tito was pretty accurate. Nice to see he hasn't lost that hallmark of his. Mayorga gets hit a lot in any fight - even when he's not sticking out his chin daring his opponent to hit, which he did tonight to small success (he didn't get KOd in the 1st) - but Tito's punches were crisp and laser guided, as always, and they were Tito punches so I'd say the damage was tenfold what another accurate puncher's 60% might have been.

Like Ray Leonard after his 2 year hiatus and return vs Hagler, Tito looked very comfortable at MW. Will it be enough against Hopkins? Does he really punch like a 160 lb version of KO Tito? We'll see...

Trinidad's accuracy doesn't surprise me in the least, and here's why;
glittermonkey wrote:For me Mayorga has one of the worst defences in world boxing, he can be so easy to hit it's untrue. I can't wait to see what happens when Tito catches him flush. I also have doubts about how hard he'll hit at middle, i know Trinidad's been down before (only once or twice!!) but i can't see Mayorga keeping him there.

Trinidad by stoppage if he's anything resembling the fighter he used to be.
Sorry to quote myself, especially as it was from so long ago, but it seems pretty much spot on. It's just a shame i went for Tito on points in the prediction league, and didn't even put any money on the stoppage.

I'm glad Tito managed to win, because i had my doubts over how well Mayorga would do against Hopkins. Trinidad may be able to make it competitive, Mayorga would be cannon fodder.

Yeah I had Mayorga to win this, but you have to hand it to Tito. What a great win after 2 years+ out, and great fight by the sounds of it.

Well done Sky for not showing it, another brilliant decision :TU:

Great to have him back - All Hail Trinidad!

Here's the fight in photos -

Apparetly Mayorga dropped his hands in the first and asked Trinida to hit him. He took two clean left hooks... then laughed at trinidad!

Says it all really.

I was one round out with my prediction, got Ouma one right. Though Vanderpool would do lacy up.

anyone see Wlad's fight, sounds like he was far from convincing, and he got knocked on his ass again.

Man, you're so lucky, it looked like an awesome night. I was on ticketmaster.com as soon as the tickets went on sale and very nearly bought a pair when I saw it was around £400 for ringside. Went to DLH - Hopkins, which was exciting in a different way. I can imagine some people finding two guys constantly adapting and meticulously setting their distance etc a tad boring, but I was in ecstasy. If I was a casual fan, though, I know what one I would have most liked. :TU:

Fat Joe is either the guy in charge of the pizza place round the corner from where i live, or he's a rather portly Puerto Rican rapper. Maybe he's both, or two totally different blokes. I don't know for sure. :-?
