I would like to see this fight being made. Very interesting clash of styles with both fighters having power! :OhYes: :box:

It's an interesting match up. 50/50 for me based on current form.

Whyte strikes me as the kinda guy who would take a fight like that. Will be interesting to see if Ortiz is willing to step up next time out or just wants to tread water til he gets another shot.

King Kong.

The Whyte who collapsed late against an uninspired Parker, wouldn't last 5 versus Ortiz, a much more versatile, well schooled fighter.

what about the scott who collapsed n 6 vs chsora. ort would surely blow hm out n a round or two then, with all that versatility and well schooldness.

hopefully the old guy faces better then cojanu next. dont want ort to waste months at his age. but for the last two years its basically been soft fights and then wilder. hes already back to the soft stuff. lets see him in with another solid contender rather then just being matched with weak sauce for several fights and then suddenly a top guy.

Dillian Whyte outworks a veteren, if not a physically elderly, version of Luis Ortiz.

The Cuban struggles badly in a trench-warfare bout where the Brit keeps landing hefty blows to the body.

So 'King Kong' enjoys some success early but struggles badly after a few rounds, en route to losing a close unanimous decision:

Yep, even at 40 he is a tricky southpaw with power. Well schooled and disciplined. You might not get much more than 6 rounds out of the old fella, but I think that would be plenty to deal with the likes of Whyte.

In terms of skills and style, yes. But Whyte is strong and built like an ox plus he's the younger guy.

Two years ago I'd have said Ortiz, no question. Now Whyte would outlast him and overpower him. Ortiz's only hope would be to knock him out in the early going.

Same with Miller, He would batter Ortiz now and Ortiz doesn't have the power (you need a lot!) to knock out Miller. Ortiz's only hope is that Miller considers him too big a risk and goes off to fight a Polish midget instead (Szpilka or Adamek, take your pick)

Ortiz has a lot of power, Whyte too. Both have the chin, too. It would be 50/50.

As a big fan of Dillian's I get a bit worried about his chin sometimes. Before he retired into his shell I thought Helenius had Dill on stiff legs and I was worried Dill wouldn't last the round. Round 2 I believe. Sometimes his chin seems like it's carved out of granite, other times he looks a bit vulnerable.

He deserves his shot at Wilder but the prospect of it makes me wince a little, inside. It seems I'm nowhere near as worried about it as Sulaiman, Haymon, Finkel and the other members of Wilder's management team are though :D

I really doubt that Wilder would face Whyte (or Fury) before Joshua, it would be too risky.

That's harsh but he does ask for it sometimes. I know he knows that a 5 fight novice is going to get his arse handed to him by a faded Luis Ortiz. He does say stupid things sometimes, but he can make some very astute observations on the odd occasion, and I refuse to write him off as nothing but an idiot.

I can only conclude he is referring to a very specific novice of under ten fights, someone like Joe Joyce or Filip Hrgovic in which case he might just have a point.

Please God he doesn't mean D Dubois, T Spong or bloody Zhang Jun Long. No he said UK novice so scratch two of those plus Hrgovic.

Joyce is UK fighter (5-0), I think he was talking about him.

Joyce against Ortiz would be a very interesting and competitive fight. Joyce isn't really a novice because of his extensive top level amateur experience and WSB. He's got decent fundamental skills, he's not the quickest, but he's very strong and has a great engine.

Ortiz would outbox him for a while although conceding height and reach, but he would surely gas out by about the halfway mark then it's all over. Ortiz would have to try getting him out of there early but Joyce isn't called "Juggernaut" for nothing and while Ortiz is no powder puff puncher, I'm not sure if he hits hard enough to make a huge impression on Joe Joyce.

I did say he wasn't an idiot didn't I ? (but sometimes it amuses him to pretend)

Do you believe that Joyce had dropped Joshua on sparring ?
