I like Scott Harrison and Frank Maloney, his manager - but I would have given it to Danny Williams for the Tyson win.

I must admit I thought Danny would win it until I saw the additional award for achievement of the year.

Harrison's the right winner i think. Good wins over Medina and Abelyan should just shade Williams' victory over Tyson, IMO at least.

Well as a Scott Harrison fan I'm pleased.

Harrison definitely deserves it. No way does Williams deserve it, he justly got the other award but this is an award for the year during which he threw away his titles against Sprott!!

Good point, Harrison definately deserves it thinking back. Its been a bit of a bad year for British boxing in reality. I mean, I don't think 2004 has been Harrison's best year (the struggle with Estrada is still in my memory) yet he deservedly gets this award.

Having thought about it cant help but think Carl Thompson should have been there or thereabouts for the boxer of the year or performance of the year awards.

I'm amazed that he wasn't even shortlisted! I think Harrison deserves the nod over Hatton or Williams and Calzaghe, I suppose you could argue that Harrison's level of competition was better and the WBO title was superior to Thompson's IBO, but from a sentimental perspective I would have been tempted to plump for thompson with two high profile upsets.

I assume the glove tampering incident would have gone against him.

He was up for fight of the year. Must admit I thought it weird Froch was included.
But all five were SN boxers, so I assumed they sponsored the awards, but I was told this wasn't the case.

Very odd indeed, I suppose all the BBC comic book hype probably helped but Froch should be nowhere near that list.

I personally would have liked to have seen Thompson or one of the boys who claimed the European title this year (well, Pickering of Nicky Cook). Dazzo Williams might have been in the running.
Kevin, you were at the event, any explanation why they forgot about Brodie vs Chi for fight of the year.

Yes as Dale said In Jin Chi won the overseas boxer of the year so I guess they left that one out.
Good to see Dale picking up the sportmanship award with Jason. Dale I hear you are up for IBO fight of the year too!
