Trying to look back at his reign at a Heavyweight
Did Haye have the Regular version or the Super?
It doesn’t say on Wikipedia but says Wlad became Super Champion when he beat Haye

Pretty sure Haye was the normal belt holder won it from Valuev, Nikolay Valuev beat Ruiz for it in 2005.

i remember chagaev was the champ (having clearly beat valuev), then he got stripped without losing it in the ring, then valuev , who was supposed to rematch chag for it, got it without actually winning vs chag, and then haye beat valuev
chag went ahead with a wlad fight and got stopped

Haye was WBA regular.
Wlad became Super as he held other belts.

i dont know that super was the default
i think super was reserved for certain conditions, like when a titlist unified (and then became 'super) or if theyd made a certain number of wba title defenses to get 'promoted' to super

'super' wasn't really a thing at the time. Haye was a legitimate WBA champion.

Haye was regular wba title holder,wlad became the super wba when he beat him then they put the regular back up for grabs, money grabbin old barstards.

Super has been around for a while cause mormeck was super wba cruiser when he fought haye back in 2007

Isn't this thread a sad indictment of boxing today?
We are all fight fans, yet we don't know if Haye was the regular, super or mega mega WBA HW champion.
The WBA should be a ashamed of themselves, but they probably have no shame.

Credibility is hard to come by as a governing body. That'll be why there are so many accepted.
Though the WBA are making a good go of being the oldest yet most ridiculous.

Haye had an actual WBA belt, not Regular. Chagaev was stripped of it, so the belt was vacant, then won again by Valuev, then taken from Valuev by Haye.
Haye wasn't Super chmpion, cause WBA calls champion Super, when they unify WBA belt with other belts.

This thread shows that all the WBA have achieved is take credibility away from all their champs of the last generation, if not longer.
The super, interim, regular have confused matters that being a WBA champion means very little. But it once did mean something and there have been some damn fine holders of the title. As time moves on, people will forget when exactly they began this whole sorry saga and will think that champs from the past had a shitty belt and were not actually world champion, the same way we all know Fielding is not.
I mean guys like Mikkel Kessler, Edwin Valero, Chris John, and Wilfredo Vázquez are all guys touching the "super era" and may get discredited
Hell how long before Khaosai Galaxy and Virgil Hill also get caught up and dismissed in future generations who assume WBA was always garbage.

As fans of the sport i think we should all boycott the wba title and make it known across all social (unsocial) media then the auld b@stards that run tge organisation should take heed and fighters too.
WBC IIBF and WBO should be promoted as legitimate world title belts,fck the wba

I am actually not happy with those "Silver" nonsense by WBC, "International" and regional stuff by WBO and IBF, and etc, etc, etc. Maybe WBA is the worst out of them all, but still all sanctioning bodies make too many versions. It's World championship, damn it. You either a champion of the World or not.

Yeah, those silver and other belts have more of a meaning, that their holders are considered to be challengers for the corresponding actual belts.

Wilder should of been stripped a long time ago,fightin arreola and Spitzer,stiverne and washington while the silver belt holder is shouting his name from the hill tops and he says no way im fighting a peasant. He is doung what he is accusing Joshua of doing but the difference is Joshua has mandatorys of 3 belts to defend against but the wbc doesnt seem to have a mandatory

Completely different mate. Although I think all those belts are garbage, they are not detracting or confusing who the organisations World Champion is.

The WBA introduced regular and super champions in 2001.
When Hopkins unified the WBC, WBA and IBF titles in September 2001 he became the first undisputed middleweight champion since Hagler. It was a cause for celebration. At last, boxing's other glamour division was cleaned up!
By November 2001 William Joppy was boxing Howard Eastman for their new 'regular' title, and by the end of the fight we had two WBA middleweight champs. I remember Iain Darke sounded vaguely embarrassed trying to explain the situation.
