Is Canelo gonna use Floyd's blueprint and potshot GGG to get a UD ?

I have a strong believe that Canelo is gonna use this tactic and probably have success.

He should fight basing on Floyd-like defensive style, but he needs to engage more. He needs to find that balance of offence and defence. He isn't Floyd and can't look as decisive as him with being majorly defensive. And if he engages too much with GGG, he will be very likely caught. So he has to demonstrate well-rouded skills.

Isn't that pretty much what he did last time when he stole the draw?

There was nothing wrong with Canelo’s strategy, fighting style or defence during the first GGG bout.
The only issue he had was his work-rate for several rounds. He just needs to throw more punches, by throwing more jabs, whilst loading-up less, and perhaps stay away from the ropes a bit more.
It’s easier said than done though.

True enough but he looked like the older of the two fighters to me, trying to conserve his energy reserves.

Canelo is gonna come lighter in this fight to move better. It is a slight difference of his muscle mass between him now and the 1st fight.

Canelo's 28, been a pro for 13 years and has 52 fights. He's been a multiple weight world champion.
I think that by now he's comfortable with his own style of that of a dangerous counterpuncher, with excellent defensive skills in his own right.
It's unlikely Canelo will borrow another fighter's style or blueprint at this late stage. He has confidence that he can make what he does best work for him.
It usually does.

He did do his best Mayweather impersonation the first go round, he's been stealing moves from Floyd since the day Floyd took him apart. And he's done it well. A few tweaks could elevate his game even more. But there is one thing that can dismantle that style, especially if he sits in that shell too often, and it's the jab. DLH was doing it early against Mayweather, and later on Cotto had some success against May with it too. A versatile and powerful jab is the main tool. Like we saw already in GGG/Canelo 1. It disrupts everything. And sometimes seemed to negate any athletic disadvantage Golovkin appeared to have. Without that jab GGG would have struggled to get all the other good work in because that jab often pushed his guy back into the ropes where theres no room to run. Something tells me GGG is gonna need that jab now more than ever, definitely can't afford another slow start. But in fairness Canelo fought that style well, GGG fought dumb, and GGG still deserved the win. A few tweaks by Golvkin, namely vicious body work, and there won't be a shred of doubt about the victor. But, like O Holy one says, easier said than done.

The only thing about Canelo that doesn't help him so much is his stiff legs.

Are you able to provide a few video clips illustrating Canelo's "stiff legs" from the first Golovkin bout?
I’ve seen him look robotic, whilst inching around the ring on stiff legs, earlier on in his career, but I don’t think that he fights that way now.

you strange strange man, i say some things about canelo beating ggg and you called me a ggg hater , yet here, for the zillioneth time, you start a thread about how canelo will have success against ggg, in addition to all the ones about how he did good the first fight. you talk more about canelo beating ggg then anyone else !
wtf

tell me mate, why do you do it? to premptively soften the blow of ggg losing? because then hey, you at least predicted it right and expected it

Great analysis! It's amazing how often the jab gets underestimated. People used to watch Joe Calzaghe and wonder how he got all his success, again totally underestimating the cumulative and disrupting effect of the blows. The same goes for body punches.
I guess in the era of 12 rounds the onus nowadays has swung to more power punches. Of course an early night is always tempting but sometimes you do have to think 12 rounds.
As you said GGG needs to start getting to work early with the jab and the body shots this time if he really wants to take Canelo into no man's land.
Are you reading this Abel?

I don't see why Alvarez wouldn't use Alvarez's blueprint, fight the same as the first fight, and pull out a draw or a win. The fact that Golovkin is a year older implies that Alvarez can fight the same as the first fight and win at least one more round this time.

Doesn't Canelo just have to stay conscious to get a decision?

Canelo actually had some success when his back was laying against the ropes. However, whenever he pulled off of the ropes to put himself in an offensive controlling position he found himself nearly getting clocked hard from a finishing Golovkin right hook.
I feel Canelo must improve defensively when bursting off of the ropes. All it takes is one GGG stun shot to set up a big TKO. We've all witnessed this.

Look, I don't care what anybody says. Canelo started shoving PEDs in his ass the morning after the Lara fight when he realized that he was thoroughly outclassed . Has Canelo ever looked that slow again? That untalented? No. I think his handlers realized that they needed to do something bold to get the return on Canelo's popularity.
If Canelo truly comes into this fight without pharmaceutical assistance then he's getting knocked out. Plain and simple. My guess is that he's still on something undetectable so it will be the same kind of fight that he'll win with a bad decision. GGG's crazy to fight him again in the same venue with the same crooked judges.

If he got away with only 6 months then anything is possible when the money talks. People tend to forget fast.

I think he can't get dropped more than 3 times. Otherwise, it will be a draw.
Replying to the subject of this thread, Canelo is no Floyd defensively plus GGG is better than Canelo offensively. If the cheater doesn't put power into his shots, Golovkin will walk through him.

I'm expecting Canelo to be more defensive and economical in this fight and just score points. In this way he'll conserve his energy. He'll fight in a negative way like Floyd did.

I expect Canelo to walk all over Golovkin.
This nonstop whining and complaining by the champion is out of the ordinary for him.
It very well indicates a lot of insecurity and lack of confidence on his part.

Whining like saying that Canelo is a clear drug cheat? How shameful for a champion to do that!

congratulations being one of a select group of boxrec's most farcically biased posters. You're in the bottom 4 or 5, at best, you may even make the bottom 2 or 3.

How secure and confident would you be knowing you probably need a knockout?
