Can anyone remember who it was that was trained by their mother, I seem to remember it being the battling levinsky's, but haven't turned anything up. I seem to remember that Jim Jeffries was also seconded by his mum.

Can anyone remember?

Sounds familiar, on the same subject isn't Chris Byrd's mom in his corner?

Didn't know that, it was the striblings who were the fighters, found a source.

does anyone know where i can find out about the story regarding Bob Fitzsimmons i think it was, where either his wife or mother shouts "hit him in the breadbasket fitz" I think it was Fitzsimmons v Corbet, though I cannot be too sure, read it somewhere once, and cannot seem to find it.

Sure can. It was one of those 'do I laugh or do I cry moments'. The poor guy got paggered and those daft bints didn't seem to have a drop of compassion between them.

That was Fitz' wife Rose in the Corbett fight.

Those Irish amateur international boxers (the brothers) who will probably be contesting in the next four nations torument have one of the member of the family in the corner (who is female). I can't remember the full story, is it their mother (or is it sister).

Anyway, I wouldn't mess with her.

Incidently, anybody who is into their history of proffesional (proper, but not the Greko style) wrestling will know that the Greatest Wrestler this country has ever produced, Bulldog Bill Garnon, was trained by his sister.

Garnon was something else, he won the European champions and went to live in America and called out the World champion for years. The Yank ducked him, big style.

That's what I though, damned if I can find it anywhere though. I remembered it as being his wife.

Young Stribling was trained by his ma, and went on to record the 2nd highest number of knockouts of any fighter after archie moore.

Isn't Chris Byrds mother involved in his training? I'm sure I read that somewhere?
