decent fight but not sure its really a step up on menard, even if burgos has these hype-able labels like 3x title challenger.
burgos is a career feather and super feather while menard was a full blown lightweight. haney was even bigger then menard and will be far bigger then burgos. and its true burgos is unbeaten since losing to mikey 4 years ago, but in those 4 years hes only had 3 fights, and his opponents were 1-5, 8-26, and 11-5-2. one of those fights was at feather too.
still, given where haneys at and his age its not a bad fight, but i actually think it might be even easier for him then menard. will be more of a physical difference and i think he will do more damage. vs menard, even though haneys skills and speed were very impressive (imo he looked clearly better then rival ryan garcia did vs velez), i think haney couldve opened up a bit more late , to be a bit more convincing and show some more versatility, i hope he does that here if the situation arises.

Notice I didnt say BIG step up or major step up, but Burgos is clearly a step up from Menard. Menard was a game but embarrassingly overmatched natural LW and has a solid chin but Burgos is clearly a better fighter who has been in with far better opposition.
Menard was never in the Haney fight and I dont think he even came close to winning a single round. The fight was stopped not because Menard was hurt but because he was a punching bag. The Menard fight was a glorified sparring session but Burgos should be an actual learning experience for Haney that can help him develop as a fighter. I remember right after the surprise stoppage by Haney on Shobox, commentator Steve Farhood condescendingly said "You can't baby this kid much longer..." At least Burgos is not baby food like Menard was.
Time will tell...

burgos was fighting for titles at 126 and 130 (and was at 126 a few fights ago) and lets not forget he drew with amidu right before losing to garcia, so its not like he was some absolutely world class guy.he never managed a win in his big fights.
i just dont know with the size difference and lack of meaningful activity (who was even talking about him these last 4 years?) that hell really offer much more then menard did. he lost pretty much every round to hasegawa at 126 and garcia at 130, and now several years and no relevant fights later i think hes pretty overmatched here at 135 vs an excellent prospect
menard at least was a full blown career lw who had some big and more recent knockouts at 135 to possibly keep haney cautious, but i feel haney can just do whatever and walk all over the smaller burgos
again, not a bad fight at all for the prospect, but i feel labels like '3x world title challenger' are more hype labels then something meaningful that will matter in the ring. wouldnt surprise me at all if burgos is even easier then menard was

tbh, i think haneys already good enough to after this fight be matched vs guys like mercito gesta, edner cherry, daud yordan, etc....guys who are settled in to 135 and beaten good enough opponents there to be top 30 or so. comparable a bit to garcia vs velez
theyve also all fought within the last year unlike burgos
guys like these to me are definite , meaningful, clear cut step ups. haneys defo way better then guys like tom schwarz, he can take this type of ambitious matchmaking

Haney's career will be fine. I'm confident his handlers are developing him well. They are professionals and are gradually but steadily improving his opposition.
Since you are so concerned that Haney is not being matched aggressively enough you should bring that up with his handlers, who could actually do something about it. I'm pretty sure he is affiliated with Mayweather Promotions and I imagine they could put you in touch with his matchmaking team.

im simply disagreeing that haneys taking another step up, and im looking beyond the hype labels to give context to things like '3x challenger' and 'undefeated since garcia'. that seems to bother you for some reason but its juat being balanced by mentioning those things, and stuff like burgos having been inactive for over a year
i dont care enough to get in touch with his management , stop being such a sensitive snowflake like you were about tischenko too, im not dumping on haney or your threads, just adding some different thoughts that arent purely BOLDED HYPE
i even said multiple times its not a bad fight, but no, of course i have 'such a problem'

Haney's career will be fine.
He's dating Blac Chyna. Please forgive me if I have concerns about his future career decisions.

Whoa!!
Thanks a lot...I had no idea, since I dont follow that celebrity crap. It says a lot about him and his character issues. Not a good sign for the future...
