At a press gathering in Tokyo, unbeaten World Boxing Association (WBA) "regular" champion Naoya "Monster" Inoue (16-0, 14 KOs) officially announced his first title defense against the left-handed Dominican and former world champion Juan Carlos Payano (20-1, 9 KOs) on October 7 at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Province, Japan.

The contest is part of the first round of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) bantamweight tournament.

Okay fight. Inoue should squash him.

Picked an easy one to start with. Should be dominant! As he did with McDonnell.

Payano is a bit difficult, but shouldn't present much of a problem for a talent like Inoue.

Payano's been around and knows how to handle himself.

I don't think that he's going to go the McDonnell route in the blink of an eye.

But The Monster will eventually get to him, just like Inoue will get to everyone else in the tournament.

all the fighters he couldve picked would be easy ones for him, there was really no ambitious option for him

Inoue said: "First of all, I never thought that my fight in this great WBSS event will be held in Yokohama. I feel pride that I will be able to have see action in Yokohama as the first Japanese participant in WBSS, where I will have to submit a maximum pugilistic performance - in search of a knockout in my favor so that Japanese boxing will collect more enthusiasm with fireworks.

"[Becoming a unified champion is] well worth it to throw more desire to myself to be able to achieve a great victory by beating everyone in the WBSS, although it will not be easy.

"I fully realize that the Japanese boxing fans have great expectations in me, I am proud to be a huge favorite of the Japanese fans so that I will be able to succeed beautifully in the WBSS."

It doesn't look like it, unless there's a webstream.

The only fights I'm aware of being televised in the UK this weekend are:

• Vargas vs Dulorme = Sky Sports
• Catterall vs Davies = BT Sport
• Roman vs McDonnell = Sky Sports
• Dubois vs Johnson = BT Sport
• Miller vs Adamek = Sky Sports
• Beterbiev vs Johnson = Sky Sports

With just 24 hours remaining before the first punch is thrown, the World Boxing Super Series revealed the broadcast details for this weekends launch.

Naoya Monster Inoue headlines the maiden event of Season II in Yokohama this Sunday, and until now, TV details were unconfirmed for several countries.

DAZN hold the rights for the USA, although the UK and parts of Europe were still wondering about streaming online.

That is until the WBSS made a special announcement via social media on Saturday. Its good news for fight fans in the UK and Germany.

Confirmed. We will be streaming the Yokohama Fight Night LIVE in the UK and Germany on worldboxingsuperseries.com, Facebook.com/WBSuperSeries and the WBSS youtube channel. The show will start at noon UK time on Sunday, said the World Boxing Super Series.

On Saturday, Inoue and Payano and the co-feature between Kiryl Relikh and Eduard Troyanovsky made weight in Japan. The Ali Trophy Quarter-Finals kick-off on October 7 at the Yokohama Arena, Yokohama, Japan.
