A prime Ward vs. A prime Hopkins.

If only they had met. Would have been technically a brilliant, may brutal fight.

Brutal, yes. Thank god we never had to watch that, would have been a candidate for "most tactical", "least punches thrown ever over 12 rounds", least power landed, they would sidestep in circles around the ring, feinting 30 sec to throw one or 2 punches, if anything remotely lands, forcing the clinch, then tieing up, holding on to each other with one arm, patting their beltlines on the sides with the other one until the ref steps in. just horrible pictures come to mind imagining it. Don't want to. Ward has a bad style, prime hopkins would win. Or the one who's handlers paid off more officials.

Awful fight. Hopkins was better but I think Ward gets away with more and has the officials behind him. Hopkins got the sort end a few times.

Hopkins would deserve the win but the fight would be a disaster full of clinching, headbutts, low blows.

"Boxing is like ballet. The better it is, the duller."

That may not be the exact quote, but it is the exact sentiment. Interestingly, George Foreman said that.

It applies to Hopkins-Ward. I voted draw.

They both technical, but both also let their hands go at times..

i dont know why ward gets talked about like some ultra low output cautious 1 potshot at a time fighter, watch his fights, lots of rough stuff in close and bullying of opponents, even though he wasnt a puncher.

Ward was more talented. He was like a mix of Hopkins and Mayweather. If I'm not mistaken, he said that himself. It could have been a pretty boring fight though and also a dirty one, but Ward's bigger elusiveness and creativity would have made him a winner.

I get the feeling if these guys fought at their best 10 times in a row. It'd be 10 decisions that could go either way, and some draws sprinkled in for good measure.

Hell maybe even a DQ or a No Contest or two.

Interesting one, I would say Hopkins beats Ward at his own game. Then again, how can one know as no-one actually beat Ward. I‘m confident Hopkins has the style to give him problems though.

Hopkins, because I think he'd be better at winding up Ward than vice versa. I'd also pick Toney over Ward for the same reason.

hopkins could be a bit sulky and miserable and get thrown off when people were rough and dirty with him, i could see ward doing that, ward to me was more versatile then hop was at 175 too

True enough, I just think that he'd see a psychological weakness in Ward and be able to exploit it down the stretch. My hunch is that Ward hates being made to look silly, because he's so technically (and illegally!) gifted that he's not used to it.

Whereas Hopkins almost thrived on boos. I suppose we mention Eubank at this point.
