Round 6
Time Commentary Points
0:00 Round 6 is about to begin... There's the bell! 0:0
0:06 The swelling on the face of Jackson is noticeable, even at a distance. Although his corner men were applying cold compresses and trying to work the swelling away from his eyes, Jackson still has distension. 0:0
0:15 Peter Jackson fires a left hand that Holmes takes high on the shoulder. 0:0
0:18 Holmes leans on Jackson and fires a weak hook to the ribs. 0:2
0:22 It seems every shot Jackson takes on his left eye makes the swelling worse. 0:2
0:26 Aaron Snowell knows Jackson lost that last round, but he took the postive approach between rounds. 0:2
0:31 A big uppercut from Jackson lands with serious impact! 5:2
0:31 Larry Holmes is suddenly in trouble! 5:2
0:41 Jackson's jab rips into Larry Holmes. 8:2
0:53 Holmes has Jackson trapped in the lower right neutral corner... 8:2
0:53 Holmes unleashes a flurry of rights and lefts, but only a few get through. 8:4
1:05 Holmes straightens Peter Jackson up with the impact of that uppercut to the head. 8:7
1:15 Holmes slides into the corner... 8:7
1:19 Jackson is moving his head and shoulders side to side, but his feet are not going anywhere, giving Holmes a decent target to shoot for. 8:7
1:24 The fighters jockey for position as they both try to gain the advantage here in the 6th. 8:7
1:32 Jackson fails to connect with that punch. He pushed it out there instead of cutting loose with it. 8:7
1:43 Larry Holmes's jab falls short, but the cross gets in behind it. 8:9
1:43 * Jackson is bleeding! He's cut! 8:10
1:43 The cut is not too severe from the looks of it; the bleeding is coming from a wound outside his right eyebrow. 8:10
1:43 * And that accidental head butt has resulted Jackson suffering a cut . 8:10
1:43 It looks like the last shot made the cut that Jackson suffered earlier worse. 8:10
1:43 Jackson's gash outside his right eyebrow has worsened here in Round 6. The blood is once more flowing freely. 8:10
1:43 * Blood is trickling from the cut over Jackson's eye; it has to be impairing his vision somewhat and it's definitely bothering him if the amount of blinking he's doing is any indication. And it looks like . . . yes . . . Referee Vann is notifying the timekeeper to stop the clock. He wants the doctor at ringside to take a look at Jackson's facial wound. 8:10
1:43 * The ringside physician is making a thorough examination of the cut, after having cleared away some of the blood. He's dabbing at the wound again and from the way all three participants, doctor, ref and fighter, are nodding their heads, it looks like this contest is going to get back underway. Referee Vann is indicating exactly that - the bout is going to continue; and both fighters are getting ready to start punching again. 8:10
1:48 Its obvious that the swelling around Holmes's left eye is rapidly worsening. 8:10
1:52 Jackson traps Holmes in the corner! 8:10
1:57 Jackson looks to work the body, but Holmes covers up nicely. 8:10
1:59 A quick jab to the body scores for Holmes 8:12
2:19 Jackson suddenly goes southpaw and tries to find an opening. But his punches miss from this side too. Now he goes back to his orthodox stance. 8:12
2:31 Jackson retreats into the near corner. 8:12
2:41 Holmes lets a quick hook go, catching Jackson moving in. 8:14
2:41 Holmes momentarily stuns Jackson with that last shot and it looks like Holmes is going to receive some added benefit from the punch because the blood is flowing much more freely from Jackson's cut. 8:14
2:41 Now the bleeding from the gash outside Jackson's right eyebrow is flowing even more as the wound has widened. 8:14
2:41 * Jackson seems to be having some difficulty seeing. It's not that he's bleeding all that badly but the location of the cut - over the eye - makes it a bit more serious. And talk about timing, the referee has stepped in and momentarily stopped the fight. He's looking at the cut above Jackson's eye and is now leading him toward the ringside physician. 8:14
2:41 * The referee won't stop the fight on his own if the reason for the stoppage directly has to do with a cut or swelling; he'll always consult the ringside doctor. And it looks like, in this case, we're going to see some more boxing because the physician has given his okay to let the fight continue. Both fighters are assuming their positions and the timer has restarted here in Round 6 as the fighters approach one another. 8:14
2:55 Holmes goes to the body landing an uppercut. 8:16
3:00 There was no feeling out in that round, Jackson and Holmes really went at it. 10:16

Round 7
Time Commentary Points
0:00 Holmes looks to be in good shape as Round 7 gets underway. 0:0
0:07 Jackson's corner men worked their magic on his's cut outside the right eyebrow. There's no bleeding at all under the Vaseline smear. 0:0
0:07 Jackson's corner didn't ignore the swelling he's suffered so far in this bout; however, even with the attention that they gave it, the puffiness doesn't look lessened much, if at all. 0:0
0:09 Both fighters are throwing but it looks like Jackson is scoring more than Larry Holmes. 3:2
0:18 George Francis was extremely upbeat during the break with Larry Holmes providing some solid encouragement. 3:2
0:18 Holmes takes a combination from Jackson. 5:2
0:35 Jackson scores with a tremendous left! 9:2
0:35 That blow connected solidly to the head of Larry Holmes and he is stunned! 9:2
0:45 Jackson retreats into a neutral corner. 9:2
0:45 Holmes scores with a cross to the breadbasket. 9:4
0:58 Holmes cranks up the hook and connects to Jackson's jaw, that one had bad intent behind it! 9:8
0:58 Jackson is hurt and he had better reach deep if he's going to continue! 9:8
1:03 Peter Jackson's left eye is becoming a cause of major concern as it continues swell. 9:8
1:08 Holmes backs into a neutral corner. 9:8
1:13 Holmes is trying to free his gloves from under Jackson's gloves. 9:8
1:17 Holmes works his way free! 9:8
1:35 Jackson really buried that punch into Holmes's ribs. 13:8
1:35 Holmes is trying to regroup after those punches... 13:8
1:46 A flurry of light blows from Holmes scores to the body. 13:10
2:03 Jackson charges Holmes trying to get inside 13:10
2:10 "The Easton Assassin" lands a jab. He's using it as both an offensive and defensive weapon on occasions. 13:12
2:10 Holmes last connect snapped back the head of Jackson. And it looks like it has reopened Jackson's cut. 13:12
2:10 Now the bleeding from the gash outside Jackson's right eye has begun to flow again. 13:12
2:10 * Vann is taking a close look at the blood trickling down Jackson's face; and now he steps in and stops the contest. Apparently, he wants the doctor to take a look at the damage done to Jackson's face, especially the cut above the eye. 13:12
2:14 * The blood is just pouring out of Jackson's cut. These fighters clashed heads in Round 6 and that caused the gash. Referee {%RefX] is stopping it and has already ruled it was accidental. Vann The ringside doctor is looking at the cut. And that's it, this one's going to be over. Points will be tallied through the last completed frame as there are 4 rounds in the books! It is now in the hands of the officials. 13:12

One of Toney's best all around performances! Shows he's still the best Cruiserweight in this thing. That's why he needed the challenge of the MDT.

Morrison getting a UD over Dempsey is a shocker :o

Hell yeah! Tommy is a man. A real warrior. It was a massacre, like it always is in his fights, and now he was able to pull out an upset. Credit to Dempsey for giving such a fight. Long live The Duke, the new WBA champ!

Ezz fighting well but coming up short as he has done so many times before this season. So frustrating.

Given that he is on a three fight losing streak, is Ezz eligible for Morrison's title next week? Would be kinda funny if he won, considering.

Tua, Jirov, Morrison all with surprising upsets. That's why you have to love the MDT format!!

Jackson was over-trained, so might have been lucky the fight was stopped early. A really good win for him none the less. High probability he advances to the next round too, but not out of the woods just yet.

I guess Jeffries really was disgusted that the 13th round began! Good effort from Charles, he just got caught. Jeffries advances to the next stage. Too bad the Dempsey fight won't be for a belt, thanks to Morrison....

Everybody is title eligible in the MDT, unless it is a CPU/CW belt. Then they have to qualify for it.

The fickle finger of fate stepped in to this to hand the author of this tourney a mixed outcome.

Well......that and the fact that the commish won't allow a single fight outside of the Detroit district in deference to said criminal. Had Schmeling and Jirov fought in Germany things would have been different. The collusion going on is that our beloved commish does not allow for non Detroit based fights. This lack of flexibility is appalling.

No Collusion you say? Seriously.....here is the list of suspect dynamics that played against the GBP galaxy of stars this week.

1. Detroit is the place where the tourney author hails from.
2. Frazier home away from Phlly was.....where else? Detroit. A favorite haunt of his. Detroit asphalt.
3.Joe Louis was beaten by Max Schmeling, and Detroit fans have never gotten over it. So Jirov's and Joe's gloves were clearly padded with Detroit asphalt.

We will be filing a grievance with an arbitrator to have both of the fights ruled as "No Contest".

A huge upset! But what can we say???

Foreman was dominated from the opening bell and eventually sparked clean out.

No excuses but we'll be looking to rerun this one down the line :box:
