Former world champion Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs) is hoping for a stadium fight in Bolton, targeting a high profile fight at the University of Bolton Stadium, which he wants to take place before the end of his career.

Khan told The Bolton News: “I want a stadium fight before I finish and why not at Bolton? It would be good to fight there. I am from Bolton and support Bolton Wanderers so that would be a dream.

“I think we could get 50,000 fans in there and I would love a big fight to be there. I also think it would be good for Bolton as well – it would be good to get fight fans to the town and pack the stadium out.

“There is not much left for me to achieve in my career but a stadium fight is one thing I haven’t done.”

MAYBE he can draw that big a crowd with the Kell Brook fight. I doubt very much any other opponent he could pick would draw that level of interest, and I'm not 100% sure that a fight with Brook would either, but Brook would be the best bet.

Maybe Brook can agree to the fight being in Bolton and use it as leverage to agree a catch weight?

Pacman would help the numbers.. But he just wants to fight in the far south east.

Bolton's stadium has about 28,000 seats. I can't see the authorities allowing 22,000 on the pitch but then Khan rarely seems to talk sense.

It would all come down to how many the police would allow I'd imagine wouldn't it?

Is khan that much of a draw now - ? I can't say I've thought about him in ages.

Khan is still a name in the UK. He’s always been a name. He was clever going with Sky. Get’s even more exposure.

Heran would pull 50 ,000 out of the hat , if it was against Brook ,, but Khan would'nt want Brook , he would want a easy fight and a win ,

That would be people standing on the pitch though, be a lot less with seating

Won't get 50 thousand at Bolton not a chance. Besides that there was only about 20,000 at Goodison when Bellew fought there.

Haye-Chisora did 40k at Boleyn Ground.

Warrington around 25k at Elland Road.

Frampton between 24-25k at Windsor.

What was Hearns figures for it? Even if there were 30,000 there Goodison is a 39,500 seater so how Khan thinks he can get another 20k into a 28,000 seater I don't know. He seriously overestimates how popular he is as well.

For the Brook fight the fixed capacity was less than for the football for safety reasons.
If you think Bolton would allow 50,000, how about 200,000 at Wembley for a Joshua fight?

Yeah but a gig can use the whole pitch for spectators and only close about 1/5 of the stand... You've got the ring + commentators/judges/boxers crew security + VIP section (not too many of them) + more security + the boxers big walk ways + security there. No way it reaches 50k

If he fights Manny, it will sell out IMO.

Zero chance of Manny ever turning up in Bolton. Khan versus Brook would draw 40000 casuals comfortably I’d say.

I remember Khan's "big return from America" show at Sheffield.
