Jono Carroll

Noticed earlier he's signed for Matchroom. Surprised it's taken so long tbh. I've been impressed with him since watching him winning the PF about 4 years back! Talented guy, plenty of charisma and heart as well! I'd favour him over the winner of Farmer v Tennyson (probably Farmer)...

How do you rate him and how far do you think he can go?

That's what I came in to say. You'd think a fan friendly Irishman would be snapped up by a promoter before now. He'll be in some wars that's for sure. He'd be in good fights with either Farmer or Tennyson, which seems to be what he's being lined up for.

The fact that you think he could beat Farmer means you think he's world class. He has beaten nobody of note to be considered world class.

I'm sure he was with matchroom before and nothing happened hence why he went to Frank.

Anyway it does seem like they have a clear plan for him.

As for him being world level that is just way off, he should be fighting At British level first, eg Sam Bowen Ronnie Clark etc etc

Doesn't mean to say he couldn't rise to the task on the night and beat a beatable belt holder in Farmer does it? He's got the style to give Farmer problems.

Bowen and Clark are gonna be contesting the British title and Carroll can't fight for that being Irish. I'd give him a good chance against Farmer.

for a guy billed as world class farmer really doesnt have a standout win...no one hes beat is near world class themselves

who are his best? itd pretty lackluster tbh, even his best are just a bunch of meh guys like redkack, the bad prescott, old gamiliel diaz whod won 1 of his last 6, shopworn billy dib already knocked out by grado and ktfo by miura etc. he was also stopped by pedraza , and he though defo improved hes not fought anyone that good since

i wouldnt pick carroll over him but hes not one to get high and mighty with with resumes, and fights arent won on resumes anyway

for perspective, the highest ranked guy farmer beat at the time by boxrec points was ivan redkach. thats not impressive at all. remember how zlaticanin annihilated that dude? remember how red couldnt beat luis cruz?

ppl go on about farmer rising from nothing, and fair play, but imo hes actually fortunate to have gotten his world title opportunities ...both against weak opponents too

How does Carroll (and others) keep getting around the beard rules?

Tennyson fighting for World Title.

Carroll in final elim v Frenois to fight winner.

Yet the best super feather in Ireland has no luck. He'd beat both, Anthony Cacace.

More fights are won on resume than fans of particular fighters with bias. No one outside of the UK would believe Carroll would beat farmer. Can he sure but to stay he would is not based on any merit. Even though Farmer doesnt have a big resume it is world tested not someone who were not even sure the best in Ireland.

A very good example of what good hype will bring you.. A decent boxer who will lose against the first genuine British level fighter he goes in with. In my opinion Clark and Bowen would be far to much for him... However I do agree on everyone going after Farmer he is the weakest champion and can be hurt.. Good boxer but lacks snap reminds me of a poor mans Adrian Broner.. In saying that I think he will be too cute for Tennyson. Frenois v Carroll would be a great fight would favour Frenois wide points..

I think I've made the mistake of saying Carroll is British before

It's because he seems to fight in Belfast so often.

People have different ways of defining "world level"

For me the only world level super featherweight are Berchelt and Machado.

I rate Bechelt highly but he has done nothing for a year. Machado beat Corrales who had beaten probably the best fighter in the division at that point ( Takashi Uchiyama)

I've made it clear on this forum I don't rate Gervonta Davis.

I like Jono Carroll but how he can get a final eliminator off the back of beating Declan Geraghty is beyond me. Goes to show that boxing is all about matchmaking and not skills. He hasn't even fought a top 10 fighter in the UK rankings yet. He's clearly being signed to fight on the Katie Taylor card. Boxing politics are insane

He's being signed off his own back Jamie. He's a fan friendly fighter and gives value for money.

I dont how you don't rate Gervonte unless you have bias or hate. There's no way someone can rate Jono Carroll but not rate Gervonte. To me you must not rated Pedraza or Walsh. That statement I can't understand. I believe Daiv s would wipe the floor with Machado. I think he beats Berchelt. But you rate Beltchelt who has stopped before against lower guys than Gervonte but you rate him. Thats absurd.

He's signed to fight on the back off Katie Taylor. I like Jono but fact is he's been given the golden ticket off a win against Declan gerhaty. Boxing is a joke.

Berchelt v Davis is a good fight. Davis looked fat as fornicate ringside last night.
