TO what extent does the stacked method of wrapping hands effect the impact of a punch ?

I would think it's mainly a case of reducing the chance of injury to the fighters hands therefore allowing them to throw full force shots with more regularity, but I could be wrong on that. There are people more knowledgeable than me on the subject undoubtedly.

The effect on punch impact will be negligible, it is done to protect the knuckles.
