to steal your right hand, square your hips, and, in the same motion, move your upper body over your front leg in a downward forward motion. your chest is going to come just over your front knee.

doing this shortens the distance your right hand has to travel.

by moving your upper body over your front leg you are giving your right hand a head start so to speak.

you can steal your right hand when your upper body has come over your front leg.

or you can steal your right hand as your upper body is coming over your front leg.

this breaks up your rhythm. now your right hand is even harder to see coming.

when you steal your right hand, bow down, and, in the same motion, swing up your back foot.

Image

now with your hips fully squared, and your back foot and your front foot both under you, stay down, and step out.

Image

you do this for two reasons. so you can steal your right hand and drop your head underneath check hooks and so you can get in and get out.

Phenomenal talents like Roy can do things the wrong way, and get away with it.
