I can't stand the wanker nowadays. Was a bit of a hero of mine as a kid but I find him insufferable now.

I'd vote for anyone who ran against Trump ... (even you) ...

Likewise.

I pay little to no attention to him at press conferences, having to look at his smug grin and listen to his waffle has become a total drag.

How a muppet like him can run for president is beyond me. Trump pulling it of is one thing, but De La fcuking Hoya, i'd have to leave the planet!

He seems serious about it too, deluded fool, he has absolutely no chance of winning, but he will enjoy the publicity and no doubt that is probably what motivates him.

Sorry to say I feel the same - I was a big fan when he was boxing (before he became a cross dressing kitchen utensil salesman).

Agree with all the above plus his 'ownership' of The Ring effectively ended it as a significant boxing publication.

I mean he said it the week of one of his major events, probably so that Media that doesn't even cover Boxing would wind up mentioning his fight, and get more eyes on the PPV.

"Oscar De La Hoya said he's gonna run for President, the promoter of a Big Event that's happening on September 15th said..." blah blah blah.

You know what I mean? Just by mentioning it, it might have brought this weekends fight to the attention of people who might've otherwise not heard about it. Not sure if that worked out or not, but I get the feeling that was probably his intention.

Hopefully you are right and he announces straight after the fight it was all a big joke to garner publicity for the fight.

On the flip side, he may have taken the opportunity to use the media interest and hype surrounding this fight to give himself a platform to make his announcement, after all he is the type of slime ball that would do such a thing.

If it was all a joke or an attempt to get publicity he'll never say so. He just won't run, and the fact that he wasn't serious will be self evident.

Did we ever get a rundown re: application technique? I remember having safety concerns.

If DLH ever became a statesman I just imagine Tony Montana in his tub.

Hard to argue with that.

He was a hell of a fighter in his day though.

I genuinely thought they were faked. Couldn’t believe it when he admitted they were real!

Bet he gets some good coke though.

A fighter that a lot of modern day guys could learn from. Never shirked a challenge and always strived to fight the best. He is a prick now but as you say, in his day there was a lot to be admired about him...

De La Hoya has been a drug addict for twenty years... He also has offshore accounts in Sweden... He's got many kids out of wedlock... He sees himself as a Mexican rather than an American... Unflattering pictures of him in womens lingerie... Buys off judges... Etc etc etc...

A snowball has a better chance in hell

Trump hasn't fucked up as much as we thought so look for many more eelebs to have a go - biggest stage on the planet - I think it will the US presidency will become more celebrity orientated in the future as now everyone knows they are just a figurehead and the competent people do the real work behind the scenes which is how Trump is still in a job.

It won't be De la Hoya though. :yay:
