“I think Jermall Charlo has to fight somebody,” Hopkins said to spam in discussing why Canelo doesn’t have to fight Jermall. ”I think anybody has to fight somebody where they’re in dangerous and can be the underdog in that they can be beat. I think you have to earn the right by names by which you’ve done, not who you are,” Hopkins said.
”If we start thinking about what they’ve done to be able to justify their earning in the step of the process, and that process is you don’t fight a super figher like Canelo based on you being undefeated, based on you being a new face, but a face that’s getting more familiar with people in the boxing world, but not mainstream people in society. There’s a difference,” Hopkins said.
”So Canelo would actually be doing Jermall a favor by giving him the light at this stage,” Hopkins said. ”You’ve got to earn you’re position, young bull. You have to pay your dues and understand you can’t bully your way into getting into this position You have to earn your way into this position,” Hopkins said. from boxing news 24
Hopkins is speaking the truth. Jermall should earn his shot to fight with Canelo/cash-ginger by pushing for fight vs guys like Jacobs/Derevyanchenko winner or BJS/Andrade winner. Hell, even guys like Sulecki, Murata, Murray and Lemieux would be a good start.

He deservers Canelo fight more than Lemieux. Trout, Williams and Centeno are solid wins

centeno is nothing. did you see how sulecki clowned him not long ago? and the williams quit job? hes no better a win then spike
jermall has some solid 154 wins and is much better then lem, but please dont include hugo in there
i do want mall to step up though, everyone big at mw has stepped up or is stepping up except charlo, who seems to be waiting around for a wbc shot. hopefully he gets it soon

Charlo doesn't deserve a shot more than Lemieux, but deserves it more than Khan or Liam Smith did.

charlo should step up but the reality is charlos no less deserving of a shot then ggg and lemieux were of there first mw shots. lem got utterly schooled like not even a year ago too, give someone else a shot first.
we all want to see charlo step up, so why so down on him getting a canelo shot?

Jermall Charlo is only going to get bigger, better and stronger over the next 3 years. I think it would be wise to fight Charlo earlier as opposed to later (like Floyd did vs Canelo).

Probably not gonna happen though. Eddie would do it and put up a career high payday for Charlo.
Too risky for Charlo. His handlers wouldn't want to risk losing the "0"

Since most guys are tied up, I think Sulecki would be more than fine. One of the Falcao brothers wouldn't be bad either. Someone, anyone. I'm not even saying he should fight Derevyanchenko or Jacobs. Just someone that has some relevance in the division. Centeno and crippled Heiland won't do.

I'd like to see Jacobs vs Charlo, but for Jermall it's nearly as tough as fighting Canelo for a fraction of the money. So he'll probably fight somebody like Willie Monroe and force a WBC mandatory.

Willie was already cracked by GGG. Sulecki stood his ground and gave fists to Jacobs.
