Who would win in their prime between former WBC Heavyweight Champion Trevor Berbick and the underrated contender Jimmy Young who many fans was robbed against Muhammad Ali?

I actually think Jimmy Young has become slightly over rated. But this is a very good match up.
Young is by far the better boxer. Berbick is tough as nails. I'd lean toward a split decision win for Young

I'd favour Young, cause he was slicker. He would have outboxed Berbick, maybe even drop him. Trevor could be slick like in Thomas fight, but he wasn't that good with that feature in comparison to Young. Berbick was tough for sure, a solid competitor overall, but Young was more special.

I think this fight could have turned into a bit of a maul, none too thrilling. Both guys very hot and cold but if we are talking Young's golden period and the Berbick that turned up vs Tate and Thomas I see a close but clear win for Young.

Very interesting to hear and Berbick had a chin and could withstand counter punches by Young. However, it would be a 50/50 between the two.

Young, if it was the Young from 1975-1977.

Tony's spot on. That Jimmy Young would have completely outboxed Trevor Berbick & made him look like a fool. Just like he did to Ron Lyle twice & to a bit of a lesser extent Foreman.

Young in those years was truly a great fighter. Why didn't it last longer? Substance abuse? Taking too many shots? Discouraged at losing close decisions? Who knows?
