Big rights hands see Valuev win in the 9th. Terry O'connell makes a good stopage as the brave Italian drops his hands after surviving a knockdown seconds before.
Not a bad performance by the giant, from the last 5 rounds I saw.
He towered over his opponent by about a foot.

I think it was Sumbu Kalambey heading the Italian's corner.

valuev took a big right in the 2nd. sort of shot where if valuev went down. hes too big to get back up.

Beyer wins KO6

Perfect left hook, out of the blue, floors the Italian early in the 6th. Beyer boxed well, I had him 2 rounds up, but he was caught a few at times with his chin in the air.
Great finish, Sanavia's head hit the canvas as he fell back. Still, I thought Ian John Lewis rushed the count a bit. He got up at nine, legs went a bit & Lewis waved it off.

Probably would'nt have survived a the follow up, but as champion fighting in the other guy's backyard, I reckon he should've been given a chance to fight on.
Great win for Beyer though. Green next up??

Beyer's won and lost the title more times than Lennox Lewis.

Beyer is a bit of a spent force, i was surprised he fought Sanavia again as i thought he might of retired.

Beyer hasn't had a particularly hard career and really I feel a lot of his problems have been mental more than physical. He has looked incredibly gun shy since the Cateley fight and in my opinion up untill now has lost all of his meaningful fights since then (Lucas won clearly).

This impressive KO might restore some much needed confidence in Beyer and maybe we might get some of the Beyer who dethroned Woodhall so impressively.

I agree with you on the Lucas fight for certain, Lucas clearly won the first four rounds without doubt in that fight yet was still behind coming into the fifth, it was a disgrace. And he was being knocked about by Green until the bad cut got worse...then he lost to Sanavia and has now ultimately regained his title. I don't think the Super the Middleweight division is any worse for having him on board, i hope he can recapture that Woodhall form again.

Agree 100% that Beyer seems to be a confidence fighter. And since Green hasn't been looking too hot as of late, this makes the rematch much more interesting. Could the tides have changed?

I have heard the Beyer has got in touch with a sport psychologist who is encouraging Beyer to do things the way he did before the Woodhall fight. Beyer apparently wore the same attire, as did his wife. He also bought a new car in the lead up to this fight - as he did vs Woodhall.

This is what I meant in the article I wrote for BB.net about employing bad sport psychologists. I would love to know the experience and qualifications of the guy Beyer is employing - that approach would be scould upon by the British Sport Psychologists. Rellying on suspisitions is crazy and could lead to disasterous consequences.

What happens if Mrs Beyer falls pregnant and cannot wear her lucky clothes, what happens if something goes wrong with Marcus' clothes. What happens if he gets offered a big sponsorship deal? Does he turn it down cause he didn't have their logo on his shorts for the Woodhall fight?

People like this give Sport Psychologists a bad name. Marcus should be trying to get back to the ways he was for the Woodhall fight, but focus on the important stuff that he can control.

Sportsman and psychology eh?
