Looking at the results for this show and noticed 5 of the 7 opponents have never won a fight , the other 2 only had 3 each so the opponents averaged less than 1 win each , To me it seems to be getting worse, half the bill should be competitive and the other half bringing the novices through with the journeyman, bet the paying public didn't realise this saturday that all the bouts were forgone conclusions before the first bell .

I've watched this trend for over 20 years and the reasons are well known to everyone involved in the game.
1. A winning record allows the home boxer to continue to sell tickets to friends and family in the mistaken belief, usually, that he's a rising star.
2 a winning record can on occasion convince the Board that a fighter deserves some sort of a title chance.
There are at least 2 downsides to this culture. Firstly the experienced manager/ promoter will know perfectly well that their fighters are limited, and will choose their opponents very carefully. This leads to false expectations and certainly does not lead to any improvement. Secondly, and it's a phenomenon observers will notice, the average novice learns only to attack because the journeymen they face usually sit back and absorb the wild swings coming at them. Willie Warburton and Kevin McCauley are brilliant at this.
Then disaster strikes. A 'real' opponent is found. You can literally see the shock in their faces when a counter body shot lands or they walk onto powerful jabs. They can't defend and they are all at sea when they can't move forward.

British boxing is booming though ? Or is it. Small hall circuit in crisis IMO.

dalcumly is 100% correct
Still all bullsh*t though isn't it & one of the reasons many give up, or find it hard to get into boxing
If you want to stay out of danger & want foregone conclusion fights all your life then get yourself down to a pro wrestling school & take that up as a career

I went to Al Siesta Bracknell show the other week, with a friend and that was a very good small hall show. The away fighters aren't told to hold back so made for entertaining fights as 2 away fighters won and one in the main event nearly got a draw.
