According to TVA Sports and The Montreal Journal, a deal has been reached for Jean Pascal to challenge WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on November 24 in Atlantic City.
Their clash will be broadcast on HBO, who plan to drop boxing from their programming at the end of the year.
Pascal was originally scheduled to return to the ring on November 9 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, but his fight against Canadian Gary Kopas was canceled last week to allow the former WBC world champion to attend his father's funeral the following week.
Sainvoyis Pascal died of a heart attack at the age of 89 in Haiti.

A mismatch, cause Pascal is worn out by age, exciting wars and hard losses.

I agree, except age, 35 is not that old, but tough wars he had many. Still, he's gonna test the kid.

Why is pascal ranked 9 at cruiser, when all his fights plus this one are at 175? One irrelevant bout at 193 against an unranked former hockey-goon & suddenly he's a top ten cruiserweight???

Hasn't Pascal learned from his beat downs at the hands of Kovalev!

Which rankings has him at CW? To be fair, he did say he’s moving to CW, but obviously this bout will be at LHW.

Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events, has confirmed that Dmitry Bivol will be returning to the ring in late November.
"Dmitry is going to fight Jean Pascal, a former world champion and spectacular personality and he's going to be doing that at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City on Thanksgiving weekend on November 24th," she told BS.com on Tuesday.
This bout will be broadcast on HBO, which announced that 2018 will be their last year televising the sport of boxing.

Boxrec has him 9th at cruiserweight.

Bivol vs Pascal is a total mismatch... Pascal would be a good test for undefeated prospects like Joshua Buatsi or Pawel Stepien.

Be nice if the winner of this could meet the winner of Beterbiev vs Smith.
Yeah, I know.

Boxrec has him 9th at cruiserweight.
Boxrec rating are based on points earned in lower divisions.

Yeh. And if a LWH fights at a catchweight of lets say 185 pounds, he will automatically be ranked as a CW.

well i dont think its as awful as some say, look last year, pascal had a good result battering elbiali and he didnt shame himself in the alvarez fight and won some rounds maybe 4 there (obviously the draw card was off).
but its a fight where youd expect bivol to beat him down. hopefully beterbiev on dazn next year like ive seen some say

This is probably not true. As an example i'll give this guy
http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/812812 technically he fought only at HW but he is ranked as a CW.
EDIT: despite the fact that his last fight was above the CW limit maybe it was contracted as Cruiserweight fight so maybe that is what matter and then you are right.

Yeh. Sometimes you get the odd fights where they might say it’s a Lightweight fight, but it’s not strict due to it not being a world title or eliminator bout. Then you get both boxers weighing around 136/7 pounds and the fights stillgo ahead. Even in those cases i’ve seen Boxrec move the boxer into SLW, not always the case.

Must have adjusted it.
He did say before Bosse he will be competing at CW, so i’m guessing Boxrec just adjusted it.

I'd like to see a tougher defense for Bivol but at least he's getting to fight on HBO again before they bow out of the sport.

I guess with Alvarez, Stevenson, Govdzyk, Kovalev, Beterbiev occupied with other fights that's pretty much a pretty, pretty good available defense. Given they will fight in canada where pascal is the star/moneymaker, guess they'll pay bivol well enough to accept the fight plus the risk of getting fvcked over. He will likely eliminate that risk by knocking the ex-champ out.
Pascal deserves another shot at a belt as much as anyone.
Bivol is 27, fought guys pretty much from the start that others "defend" against on a regular basis with the obligatory mandatory mixed in that they can't escape but still everything is done to put a beatable if not right away fixed "challenge" in front of them by applying every shitty move out of the "promoter's handbook for shady machinations".
