As an expert boxing forum poster . . .

if you were a promoter would you rather promote a fight that doesn't lose money or one that is artistically pleasing to fans?
It seems that the "experts" on forums are always criticizing cards for not being entertaining enough and satisfying their blood lust. . . .So the question is would you rather not lose money or offer a loaded card that may a killer show on paper, overpay for it and lose a ton of money knowing what the audience size and demographics are?

lol do i smell some condescension
really, from a promoters pov and even a fighters, its often best to take the path of little risk.
and even the 'hardcore' fans calling for top fights, saying records dont matter etc, ... still rush to cry 'overrated!' and sh!t on guys and lose interest from a loss or two, even at very high levels and in competitive fights. boxing fans can be pretty sh!t in that respect, i guess a lot of sports fans can

Ok ok, i'll respond. I know that this OP was just daring to get me to come out of hiding and comment considering that i'm the expert he's referring to.
Don't fool yourself. Most of these cards being put together in 2018 have nothing to do with creating interesting matchups. Unfortunately, it's been all about protecting these promoters best talents and that's what sucks about the sport and why 2018 was one of the worst years in boxing in my opinion.

If a card was great but lost money it may be a good investment for future cards.

That's one of the problems. They're going for recognizable names. Problem is boxers aren't movie stars. Their name are long recognizable after their skills depart.

Why would I want to lose money?
Who runs a business and doesn't care about the bottom line financially?
It's true that you might be able to both afford and tolerate losing money on a few cards if the end game is to build a fighter and then eventually snare a big fight payoff.
But overall, the fans come in second.
