30+ debut successful boxers...

Hi everyone,

This is probably one of those common starting forum topics. It is known that solid amateur fighters (especially those with Olympic and related pedigree) start bit more "later" in pro boxing, ranging from 24 to 28 years old, and those starting after this age may be considered for some as "old".

* There are some over 30's boxers I find in the schedule here, but most of them are tough guys that decided to start late in pro boxing (an admirable feat IMO) but most don't have solid career bouts.

I did some researches and I found just a few solid boxers who started from (at least) 30 years old, that had with many good/solid wins or even with some relevant title win (even not being world title) and some that debuted closer to 29 and 30 years of age.

These are some of the active/inactive ones that I found and their respective age when debuted.

Shiming Zou, ~32
Zhilei Zhang, 31
Ronny Landaeta, 31
Luis Ortiz, ~31
Lucas Browne, ~30
Eduard Troyanovsky ~30
Emil Markic ~30
Sean Monaghan ~29
Hadillah Mohoumadi ~29
Nieky Holzken ~29
Guillermo Rigondeaux ~29

* Gabriel Adrian Pereiro, 32 (bottom feeder), in my view doesn't count, but is here to tell.

If you guys know more names (active or not), please write so we can expand the list.

Many thanks! :bag:

Listing some more fighters between LHW and HW. However, I think the term "successful" is being thrown around loosely given some of the names in the OP, so that is the standard that I'm gonna go by.

Tervel Pulev 33
Joe Joyce 32
Junlong Zhang 30
Gerald Washington 30
Olanrewaju Durodola 30
Tyrone Spong 29
Adonis Stevenson 29

hard to find many notable guys. some just fell short on being 30

ottke was 3 months from 30 when he debuted. 34 tried but 34 failed :bag:

tony thompson was 29 but turned 30 the same year he debuted

and kovalev already looked 40 when he turned pro :yay:
