Jarrell Miller is less than two weeks removed from quickly knocking out a 41-year-old former contender.

Now the heavyweight’s handlers are working on matching Miller against a 45-year-old contender who hasn’t fought in four years. And this time, Miller will fight for one of the WBA’s three heavyweight titles.

Multiple sources have informed BS.com that negotiations are moving toward the finalization of a deal for Miller to face Fres Oquendo on November 17 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. If, as expected, the deal is completed, Miller and Oquendo will fight for the WBA world heavyweight title in the main event of DAZN card.

Eddie Hearn, one of Miller’s promoters, also has tried to arrange a bout between Miller and WBA interim champion Trevor Bryan (20-0, 14 KOs). Hearn has made more progress with Oquendo’s handlers than with Don King, Bryan’s promoter.

For Oquendo, meeting Miller finally would afford him the WBA title shot the Panama-based sanctioning organization legally owes him.

Chicago’s Oquendo (37-8, 24 KOs) was supposed to challenge Manuel Charr (31-4, 17 KOs) for the WBA world heavyweight title September 29 in Cologne, Germany. That fight was canceled on short notice because Charr tested positive for two anabolic steroids, drostanolone and trenbolone, and was stripped that championship.

Miller will suffer from the Oquendo curse and will withdraw because of some doping scandal. Sure, he will try to say, that those PEDs were in chicken meat of the KFC, where he spends all his training camps, but that won't work and Oquendo will remain without an opponent once again. But if the fight will take place, Miller will win in an Adamek fight fashion.

It's the worst fight i can think of but at least it will end the Oquendo's soap opera.

Oquendo had always been Fat Fres to me, not Fast Fres. He has been training for the last 4 years no doubt. But will (hopefully) get flattened here.

I hope this will finally put an end to the Oquendo/WBA mess.

This fight could go the distance..............if the rumour about Miller negotiating pizza delivery to his corner after each round is true he will want to go the full 12 rounds.

I'd be if this was a prime Fres, but of course it isn't unless there is something miraculous about Fres.

Miller by KO here. Both in their prime? Possibly a draw.

There hasn't been an official announcement from the WBA stating that Charr has been stripped as far as I'm aware.
Their website states that his status is 'under review'.
I imagine we will know what's happening pretty soon.

I assume so. It would make sense to wait for the results of that. Hence the delay.
It is understandable that the WBA don't want to be involved in any further legal problems given the Oquendo debacle.

Hearn said Bryan didn't want the fight. So who would that leave Miller with? Chisora? Jennings? Guillermo Jones? Chris Lovejoy?

From purely a mathematical perspective, if Jarrell Miller actually ends up fighting Fres Oquendo on the 17th November, then the average age of his last seven opponents (on the date he faced them) would equate to 38 years and 10 months old, which I feel is pretty bad compared to the youthfulness of these world-rated heavyweights:

• Deontay Wilder (33 years of age)
• Tyson Fury (30 years and two months)
• Anthony Joshua (29 years)
• Dillian Whyte (30 years and six months)
• Joseph Parker (26 years and nine months)
• Adam Kownacki (29 years and seven months)
• Hughie Fury (24 years and one month)
• Andy Ruiz Jr. (29 years and one month)

This "fight" makes zero sense. Total waste of time for Miller. I hope he does something more meaningful instead. Fight Chisora... He would be up for it if they pay enough. Helenius would probably take the fight for decent payday. Jennings or Ruiz could be up for it too. Loads of better names out there to climb some rankings.

As for Miller fighting Oquendo. I wish someone would hurry up and face him before social security kicks in for the guy.
