im not really sure on this guy, please help me. it wouldve been easier to know if the bjs fight had happened or if he hadnt pulled out vs jermell charlo. the win tonight anwers pretty much nothing

he was a world amateur champ and olympian , and at times he looks really really good. but then he hasnt beaten very good opposition (vanes + culcay + willie nelson best wins?), and he had some issues in fights, like getting dropped by vanes and only beating culcay 116-113 for me ( defo shouldnt have been a split decision though).

im not really sure if this guy is really really good, or merely good. too bad the bjs fight didnt happen, wouldve told us a lot

I agree. Andrade has shown some skills, but not on the higher level. I was favouring BJS, cause their styles were quite similar, while BJS had defeated tougher guys. So I definitely won't favour Andrade against the very best of the division either. Canelo, GGG, Jacobs for the moment are still likely to be better. Charlo and Sulecki are probably too, in a lesser extent.

what andrade does is keep you out on the end of his jab.

actively waiting to step back and run you into a check hook.



what a step back does is create a gap you have to cross to punch. you charge in to compensate for the space created by the step back and get sucked into the check hook. a good step back is the way you set up a good check hook and andrade has both.

he can counter you. he can outwork you. he beats guys who have to set their feet to punch and he runs numbers all over guys who cover up and take turns.



he gets hit. how he got knocked down by martirosyan was he was coming back over a right hand and ran into a follow up jab.



but sometimes when you roll the dice you win big.

how good is demetrius andrade? really good.

i liked that combo he threw vs nelson, where he goes from hook to uppercut with the lead hand. that was always the most akward combo for me. (much harder then uppercut to hook)

inoue does hook-uppercut well too

About the same level as prime Vanes.

I think Saunders would handle him. GGG, Jacobs, Canelo are on a higher level. Charlo and Derevo are likely better too.

andrade beat jacobs in the amateurs.

Killer instinct is not there... but the elite skills are there
