I like this guy. He got decent win over Keith Tapia last night. What are options for him at cruiser now when lot of top boxers are in tournament again ?

he won a wba regional title vs tapia, maybe he could get a fight vs wba interim champion arsen goulmarian?
maybe hearn gets really extra ambitious with okolie and tests him with perez?

I would like to see him rematch Jennings or Povetkin. I don't think any top cruisers want to fight him.

He lost his power at CW, you can think whatever you want, but he is natural HW.

He never knocked out anyone decent, i think that CW is okay for him, he has a bigger chance o achieving something at CW than HW.

im not sure, i can see how one would think hes showing less power, but he landed very few clean punches vs briedis or even tapia (who spoiled and hardly threw). his other cw opponents he knocked out in 1 round although they were both weak

I think he's pretty ordinary. Lost to Jennings, went neck-and-neck with Takam. He's definitely not awful or anything, but I think squarely outside the CW top 10. I think he could beat Masternak but they're at a similar level.
Would be a good step-up for the undefeated Goulamirian who now holds some garbage interim title.

Yeah that was such a close fight he deserves a rematch. Yeah right. It was revenge for Mago fight!

Right now, he might be around the # 10 HW, and #7 or 8 at CW.
The money and the glory are not at CW (and never will be), so he had better move up at HW again.

I would say that Perez is rather ~15 at CW. 7-8 seems too high imo. He did nothing at CW (and little at HW ) so far.

According to Perez, he was drunk as f. in that fight. He has a drinking problem. Peak Perez will give Povetkin a tough fight.

That is the most pathetic bs excuse I ever heard. Why would anyone show up drunk for his biggest fight ever? I didn't blame him for what happened to Mago because I didn't see that he did anything wrong. I blamed Mago's corner and the criminal misbehavior of the MSG and NY state authorities in attendence. But if this pathetic excuse is even remotely true, or even for just saying it, I'd ban his ass from boxing! Anyway, he's full of it. Look at the film of the fight, before it started, do you see him wobbling around looking drunk?

If you want to see someone before a fight started looking not drunk but high as a kite, look at Golota vs Lewis.

There was a reason Briedis decided to hang on Perez. Perez is good. He may be right there after Usyk, Gassiev and Briedis on the same level as Bellew, Dorticos, Glowaki. He was very demoralized by the Mago tragedy which affected him in Takam, Jennings and possibly even Povetkin fight. He seems to be over his emotional issues now.

Isn't Mike Perez considered as being “damaged goods” after his tragic bout against Magomed Abdusalamov? I don’t think he’s ever been able to recover from that ordeal and his in-ring performances have understandably been adversely affected by it.

Mago broke his hand in the first round of that fight. If only he didn't how differently things might have been. The two saddest words in the English language: "if only".

what about perez performances has been 'traumatized''? has he lost to fghters he clearly shouldve beaten?
vs carlos/jenn as a fat hw he boxed well the first half and was well ahead and plenty busy , but he just had poor condtnng and become tired..allowng the opponent to claw rounds back . those were stll both very close and he hardly seemed a done fighter. vs breds he was movng forward but simply out timed and frustrated . last match vs tapa he was gong forward/ punchng plenty/punchgn around the bac of the head etc. hardly a guy scared to hurt someone
vs darnell wlson too he was punching around the bac of the head and again hardly seeming scared to hurt

Yeah, i figured the stuff about him being traumatized was just PR. But really he has no need to be. He didn't cheat or fight dirty. He was just doing his job. It's the sons of bitches who were in Mago's corner and the ref and the ring doctor and f'g Melvina Lathan and all the other sob's who handed Mago and his team a piece of paper and said "exit's in the rear have a nice day" who should be traumatized but of course they aren't.
