Danny Jacobs vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko

This weekend on Sky for the vacant IBF Middleweight title, looks a solid fight initially I was thinking Jacobs is a bit too seasoned for the unbeaten Derevyanchenko(12-0 10ko) but the more I think about it the more I'm starting to think this might be the perfect time for Derevyanchenko, since Jacobs lost the close decision to Golovkin, a fight which I thought he won, he hasn't impressed me since teaming up with Eddie, maybe he's been unmotivated? He cruised against Arias, won wide against a negative opponent but was boring and in last fight against Sulecki even though I thought he won by a couple, the last round knockdown definitely helped, he could've easily lost that, Sulecki was able to outbox and outhustle him for spells and I thought Jacobs gassed

Ive seen Derevyanchenko a couple of times, I remember him giving Elvin Ayala a beating for 10 rounds and destroying what was left of Soliman in 2, he looked a strong, aggressive come forward type of fighter who punches through opponents targets, Jacobs seems to struggle with these Eastern European types, I think Derevyanchenko can KO Jacobs here

I’ve got money on Jacobs points.

But I’m a huge fan of Derevyanchenko and I haven’t been impressed by Jacobs lately.

I’ve just got a feeling Jacobs is going to get the nod in a close one.

Aren't they trained by the same guy? Or did I dream that?

I think both fighters are involved with a lot of the same people

Good fight some great exchanges, had Jacobs winning 116-112, I thought his class won a lot of the closer rounds, got off to a flyer putting Derevyanchenko down with a right hand in the 1st, Derevyanchenko was always on the front foot trying to make something happen and although he did tag Jacobs throughout he was made miss a lot, Jacobs constant switching seem to befuddle Derevyanchenko and he got off some sharp counters

Derevyanchenko landed some quality shots but Jacobs took them well and always tried to come back firing to get the last word, I think Jacobs experience seen out the win down the stretch, great last round but in the end as strong as Derevyanchenko was, he was the more basic of the 2 fighters

i had it 115-112, jacobs just had that extra bit of speed and natural talent to him, wouldnt mind seeing derev vs lem

I guess, Lemieux fight won't be the best, cause Derev will expectantly outbox him wide. BJS and Andrade matchups sound intriguing.

i think he would beat lem, although he makes a more interesting stylistic match then someone like bjs did vs lem. would be more in close and throwing with him

fights vs guys like andrade, charlo, bjs etc would be interesting too and good steps up for at lease a couple of those guys at mw, though i get the impresion that derev is a bit lacking in the raw talent department compared to the top mws.

It looks like, you're right about him lacking raw talent, he is more of a hard worker. Technically solid, but not very special.

Great bout, really competitive right to the final bell.

Commentary was awful.

Smith had compared Machado to Corrales (growling voice) before the first bell had sounded.

And Spencer Oliver scored the main event 180-2 in favour of Jacobs.
