Can Erickson Lubin (19-1, 14 KO's) be a future player in the sport and get career redemption?

Just two fights ago Lubin lost via shocking 1'st round KO to Jermell Charlo. Since then he scored a 4th rd TKO. The Orlando Florida native is still only 23 years old and is a heavy handed south paw.

It's been just over a year since the devastating Charlo loss and Lubin's only fight was a stoppage win 6 months ago over journeyman/designated loser Silverio Ortiz. Ortiz was fighting above his usual weight so that win tells us NOTHING. The fact that Lubin's confidence-building TKO didnt seem to build much confidence tells me that Lubin will be taking any SERIOUS fights in the hear future.

He's young so maybe he needs a few years away from the sport until his hunger returns. Lubin still has LOADS of upside and potential and I hope he doesnt leave the sport permanently. One thing in Lubin's favor is that it was a one-punch KO and he didnt take a lot of sustained punishment. It's losses like Fernando Vargas had against Tito Trinidad (which was an extended beatdown) that leave a fighter with the proverbial "cracked chin" that Vargas had for years after the Tito loss.

Erickson Lubin was an extremely good prospect who, unsurprisingly, lost to a significantly more in-prime, world class opponent. This happens also. Not every prospect can beat a world class opponent when they're 22ish like Isaac Dogboe and Luis Nery did. As long as Lubin didn't sustain a serious head injury, there's no reason why he can't improve substantially and achieve world class status in the future. Lots of improvement tends to happen between age 22 and age 27. There are many young fighters who recover from pre-prime defeats and rise to new levels, like Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins, Wladimir Klitschko, Danny Jacobs, Jean Pascal, Sergio Martinez, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Saul Alvarez, Wisaksil Wangek, Miguel Berchelt, Dillian Whyte, David Haye, Adonis Stevenson, Nonito Donaire, Juan Francisco Estrada, Juan Manuel Marquez, Winky Wright, Tomasz Adamek, Carlos Baldomir, Israel Vazquez, Rafael Marquez, etc.

That chin won't last at world level.
