Just saw it on maxboxing, and I've got to say that they seem to ignore most of what Green does. Toney looked like he was fighting within himself, and landed the harder shots, but he didn't beat Green down the way they claimed he was.

I thought Green showed amazing balls in there, and he must have a cracking chin to take those shots. I think Toney could have taken him apart if he wanted, but was more interested in punishing him. Toney looked to me to be gasping for air at times.

It was good sparring it would be interesting to see them at the same weight.

One thing that struck me watching it was how the f***ing hell Toney was ever a middleweight, I know he's obviously grown naturally since those days but he must really have had to boil down hard to make it. Shame Green couldn't really hurt Toney he put some nice shots together too.

With the right training though, Toney could probably get down to 180, he was carrying a huge amount of extra muscle in there. 230 is too heavy for Toney, he's better around 210-215 mark. He's been advised by Roach not to do so much weight lifting next time. That's apparently why his bicep tendon seperated, too much extra muscle mass.

maxboxing seem to be totally up Toney's arse all the time. Green did well considering he was outweighed by about 4 stone and up against a world class fighter whose had more than 50 more fights than him. Fischers a decent writer but sometimes seems too hung up on the 'gangsta' effect of some US black boxers, just cause they're 'from the street', he's too quick to praise their toughness, 'street mentality' etc which has no significant bearing on their ring abilities given that most boxers have had it tough. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this but it irks me somewhat when i'm reading his stuff

Dougie has been a bit of a bitch recently. That video was pretty much stolen from fightworld. The guy who shot it contributed stuff to fightworld, including the video....when it was a success and everyone was talking about it...max boxing showed their might, the cameraman now works for them... and now people have to pay for the video. don't.... go to fightworld and get it for free.

I like Max Boxing, they show class where some other sites lack...but i don't like the way they've gone about this.

Wasn't aware of that to be honest. Shit happens I guess, nobody forced the cameraman to work for them, money talks I guess.

I don't think that Dougie is obsessed with black gangsta fighters. I've heard him criticise Hopkins for being boring.

I think the thing with Toney is that he gives them access, is always good for soundbites and videos, and are full of admiration for Toney, and rightly so.

There are very few fighters with Toney's level of skill above middleweight, he's a fighter I love to watch too, and I guess it's easy to get distracted from being objective when you're watching one of your heroes.

I think Dougie is a guy who writes mainly from his own opinion perspective, so I don't think you should be surprised.

I'm watching it now. You're right about the commentary - it's entirely Toney focussed apart from the odd token 'hasn't Green got big nuts'. There are occasions where Green's moving forward, blocking Toney's shots and landing his own and the commentating team are creaming their pants over how much Toney is beating him up.


Good video, though. Toney got a workout, although he was pulling some (but not all) of his punches. But the commentating team really need to get out of Toney's pants.

Only saw a clip of the sparring, 3 rounds or so. Never looked like Toney went into top gear at any point, but showed a few flashes of what he can do.

Has anyone noticed how Toney's voice has changed over the years? I was listening to him promoting the Booker fight the other week and couldn't help but notice his voice sounded a lot more gruff than it did when he was 168 and below.
