OK, we’re all in agreement that Adam Smith’s comment about Bellew’s nickname ‘The Bomber’ is his fighting name and not a reference to the Manchester Arena bombing, so I think we should salute Adam for pointing that out and not calling for his sacking for making probably the most stupid, rank, idiotic comment possibly in the history of the sport. Besides, isn’t Smith the Director of Boxing at Sky Sports? It’s unlikely he’ll sack himself
Which brings me on to my next point. Why on earth is the Director of Boxing also commentating. If Grey Dyke or someone similar started commentating of the Footie, I’d think fvck off, get John Motson, Gary Neville, someone much more knowledgeable commentating. Are Sky Sports strapped for cash, so much so that they have to give Smith the two jobs? He may well be an amazing backroom business man but the narcissistic cuntary of making yourself the man man of every boxing event (yes, you hear his voice more than anyone else’s), is a kick in the pudendum for anyone that pays for subscription/box office
I could go on and talk about Carl Froch’s career long technique of blocking punches with his head clearly having a major effect on his scoring and Johnny Nelson’s intimate relationship with Eddie and Smith meaning he will say anything but I CBA

For posterity, here is a clip of Smith confirming that ‘Bomber’ was not a reference to an actual bombing:

Just glad that Adam Smith has finally cleared this up and put this terrible misunderstanding to bed.

that comment almost seems autisticy...like something someone would say if they dont have any sense of how people think
of course adam, everyone was thinking that the sky sports boxing hero is an avid terroist supporter and got himself inked in honour of those concert bombings.

Also much to unpopular belief, I think Adam Smith should have added,
That Larry "The Easton Assassin" Larry Holmes was not involved in or paying tribute to the Assasination of John F Kennedy.
Also the Oliver "The Atomic Bull" McCall is or never was a sickening reference to the innocent victims of Hiroshima.

Ricky Hatton didn’t actually carry out hits for the mafia.
Mike McCallum didn’t actually secretly rob graves in order to sell dead bodies.

I hope the BT commentary will be as diligent and will quickly clear this up prior to the fight to avoid anyone taking offence.

I believe, being the head of boxing. Smith just wants to put himself forward more. He’s at pressers, does all the main talking at media workouts etc. So he thinks, he’ll be head of commentary. His voice does not match his face. He’s a shït commentator. Froch CBA with boxing. He’s a shït commentator and unofficial judge.

I think Froch scored that fight a draw, despite Bellew being knocked out

well froch scored the 8th round 10-10 apparently, and since bellew was up on his card at that point, and the fight ended in the 8th, that can only mean that bellew actually won the fight on points

I'd like to confirm that Jake LaMotta was not suffering from a bovine related condition such as mad cows disease.
