Fight by Fight: Andrew Golota

Ok, guys, here's my turn to follow Fight by Fight trend and now it's time for the one and only Andrew Golota.

Golota's amateur career was an impressive record of 111 wins and 10 loses. Andrew won Bronze at the 1988 Olympics. His entire Olympic record looks like this:

1st round bye
Defeated Svilen Rusinov (Bulgaria) 5-0
Defeated Harold Obunga (Kenya) 5-0

Lost to Baik Hyun-Man (South Korea) RSC 2,
where he was outboxed pretty clearly and stopped on cuts.



After completing his amateur career Golota moved to Chicago, USA, where he started pro-career. His pro-career looks like that:

Debuting Roosevelt Shuler is TKOed in 3

2nd fight
Debuting Joe Jones is stopped in the 1st

3rd fight
0 5 0 Charles Presswood is KOed in the 1st

4th fight
12 12 3 Joey Christjohn is TKOed in the 1st

2 3 2 Robert Smith is outpointed in 6

6th fight
3 26 0 James Holley is KOed in the 1st

7th fight
18 32 2 Aaron Brown is TKOed in the 3rd

Andrew finally got filmed, he punished 46 25 1 Bobby Crabtree for violating the rule of "Protect yourself at all times", eventually TKOing him in the 2nd

14 10 2 Kevin P Porter is KOed in 3

12th fight
9 20 0 Carlton West was KOed in 2



13th fight
6 6 2 Marion Wilson, a tough journeyman, he got outpointed after 8 rounds

14th fight
13 3 0 Andre Smith was KOed in the 1st



15th fight
15 7 0 Calvin Jones is TKOed in 2



16th fight
21 6 1 Donnell Wingfield is TKOed in the opener



17th fight
8 11 0 Larry Davis is kayoed in the 1st

18th fight
30 3 2 Terry Davis is TKOed in the 1st

21 13 1 Jesse Shelby is TKOed in 2

38 17 1 Jeff Lampkin retired on stool after the opener

13 1 1 Darren Hayden showed guts, but retired after the 7th ending a solid beatdown

23rd fight
7 14 3 Marion Wilson is outpointed again, now in a 10-rounder

15 1 0 Samson Po'uha is TKOed in 5, where Golota showed his first notable foul, when he tried to bite Po'uha after being troubled



25th fight
17 8 0 West Turner is TKOed in the 1st after eating a brutal combo



26th fight
20 9 2 Jason Waller is TKOed in 2

27th fight
16 9 0 Charles Hostetter is TKOed in the 2nd



28th fight
24 1 0 Danell Nicholson is retired after 8, Golota's performance contains some diry stuff again



29th fight
38 1 0 Riddick Bowe loses to Golota, but thus wins, cause Golota gets DQed for low-blowing assault. A legendary fight



30th fight
39 1 0 Riddick Bowe loses to Golota again, but yet another time wins by DQ, well, you know that story



31st fight
31 1 0 Lennox Lewis gets Golota as a challenger for his belts and destroys him in the 1st goddamn round



32nd fight
19 3 1 Eli Dixon is unlucky enough to taste the comeback of Golota, he's KOed in 6



33rd fight
21 12 0 Jack Basting is TKOed in the 3rd

16 5 0 Corey Sanders, a one, that not Corrie Sanders, is outpointed in a 10-rounder in a solid 90s' style scrap

46 7 0 Tim Witherspoon is decisioned by Golota after a 10-round bout

26 17 0 Jesse Ferguson loses a 10-round match



37th fight
24 6 1 Quinn Navarre gives up in the 6th and sufferes a TKO loss



38th fight
30 0 0 Michael Grant nearly gets KOed early, but survives to a miraculous comeback in the 10th, where he knocks Golota down and makes him quit



39th fight
24 16 0 Marcus Rhode is TKOed in 3



40th fight
50 5 0 Orlin Norris loses a 10-round solid bout



41st fight
48 3 0 Mike Tyson breaks Golota's jaw. Mandibular. Andrew quits after the 2nd. But the bout was declared NC, cause Tyson was high



42nd fight
18 10 0 Brian Nix is TKOed in 7

43rd fight
32 13 1 Terrence Lewis is TKOed in 6

37 2 0 Chris Byrd retains his belt against Golota in a controversial draw, where Andrew enormously outworked Byrd



45th fight
40 5 1 John Ruiz is put on his butt twice, but manages to spoil the second half of the fight with his ugly clinching and gets a robbery UD win instead of a deserved DQ, "defends" his belt



46th fight
31 2 0 Lamon Brewster brutally defends his belt by TKOing Andrew right in the 1st



47th fight
21 13 1 Jeremy Bates is TKOed in 2



48th fight
34 5 1 Kevin McBride is TKOed in 6



49th fight
19 1 0 Mike Mollo is outpointed in a 12-rounder, where Golota showed guts and gought with a badly swollen eye



50th fight
25 4 4 Ray Austin wins after the 1st, as Golota withdrew with an injury



51th fight
38 1 0 Tomasz Adamek TKOed Golota in 5



52th fight
43 7 0 Przemyslaw Saleta KOs Golota in 6



After that Andrew's career was officially over.

On Oct 25, 2014 Golota performed in a some kind of an exhibition bout against a former rival Danell Nicholson to make a farewell fight

BTW, who knew Golota really didn't want to be a boxer. He wanted to be a truck driver. Reminds me of JD Chapman.
