Is Wilder losing it?

Not sure if anyone has already posted this interview up from yesterday's press conference but Wilder looks like he's losing the plot a bit to me and that the pressure is getting to him. This rant was just bizarre and makes me even more confident that Fury has won the mind games and will win the fight on Saturday.

Thoughts?

He's just trying to sell some tickets IMO. Quorn Beef between him and Fury. I'd have preferred if they had just shaken hands and been friendly. That tactic worked for AJ and Wlad.

I'm not sure about that. I think he's feeling it a bit. Remember he has never been in a fight remotely as big as this. At least Fury has had the experience of a big unification fight and may handle the occasion better. He's also a master of mind games.

I find it fascinating that Fury has declared himself a master of the mind a few times and even more so that people believe it given what has happened since he ‘beat’ Wlad Klitschko.

I've got a sneaking feeling fury is in his head. I've never seen tyson look so completely relaxed. I fancied Wilder to do this, thought it will be too soon, but now I'm starting to think Tyson knows something

Two stadium fillers Boxing one another can promote a contest in a different way to two men who don’t fill arenas.

He is brilliant at getting under his opponents skins though. What happened to him afterwards has nothing to do with his ability to win the mind games in the lead up to a fight.

I don’t think DW is too worried - He’s been known to go on some bizarre rants before, just hyping himself up and selling tickets, plus making sure his big mouthed opponent doesn’t dominate the conversation in the lead up.

Even though his reign started in inglorious fashion, he has been in some big pressure fights recently - the huge stress of defending a big time heavyweight title, so I don’t think this will be getting to him.
I’m not sure the American public even see this as a particularly big fight, generally.

Embarrassing rant, but typical style of trashtalk we've come to expect from African Americans. Ridiculous gangster slang, repeating themsellves like parrots.

He's probably more bothered by his lack of fame than Fury. Tyson is a big step down from Ortiz, not sure what Wilder has to sweat.

Wilder is a bit odd, some interviews he comes across very well, others he seems a complete tool.

He may claim that he is 'fight mode' or is essentially getting into character to sell tickets.

I personally feel that the lack of consistency in how he comes across in public is one of the reasons why Americans has never really taken to him.

Ali was an obnoxious loudmouth 24/7, Tyson was a genuinely 'bad' individual in his younger days.
Mayweather was always an arrogant, money grabber who showed disdain to fans.

Although none of these men were everyone's cup of tea, the public knew who they were and had an opinion of them and (more importantly) actually paid to see them fight.

It is difficult to form an opinion on a man who quickly transitions from doting father working hard to provide for his family one minute, and is a loud, uncouth thug the next.

His brother with the bag on his back always has his hand up Deontay’s ass.

Could be talking about either man.

Exactly. Fury and Wilder get on. He been pretending to get angry at Fury at press conferences but you can see him trying to stop himself from laughing. This is all because it's not selling well

Like when?
If Fury was a 'master of the mind' there would be no 'what happened afterwards'.
As a general rule the mind games concept as a whole is utter nonsense. Any mental advantage/disadvantage is brought about by a boxers ability to deal with the pressure of a contest/fear of an opponent based on what they have done not what they say and/or whatever else is going on in their life at the time. The only legit 'mind game win' I can think of is Collins v Eubank.

That's just a f***ing stupid thing to say

I doubt the action of Wilder reflect much on say, Sugar Ray Leonard

You do know he's from Alabama and not Compton right? It sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about

Klitschko fight was the most obvious example. Wlad even admitted as much in the face to face discussion they had with Nelson for the second fight.

Mind games can play a huge part in any contest of they psychologically damage an opponent. There are examples of that in every sport.

Nah. His life outside of boxing was the real factor there.
Mind games are largely a waste of everyones time and have no negative effect on an opponent. Once in a while what one boxer says can get to another, but most of the time, nah. It can help a boxer to feel more positive and confident if he believes he is 'winning the mindgames' but as I said, in an overwhelming percentage of times, it means nothing.

And you wonder why someone started a thread asking if you were racist? This is a very poor comment to make  :shame:

In all fairness most African Americans have got the same patter, its the same with most Eastern Europeans being quite steely eyed and quiet, I wouldn't say its racist personally, I cringe when I see the likes of Broner, Wilder, the Charlo's holler all that "yeah" and "that's right baby", and not coz their black its coz it doesn't mean anything, guys like Leonard and even Porter talk a lot more sense,

A lot of the Black UK guys are the same, especially the Londoners like Okolie and Yarde, the shite they waffle on twitter makes my cock shrivel into ,my stomach

Absolutely nothing to do with their skin colour, I blame the music personally, rappers and grime artists talk utter bollocks, guys from Hackney singing in an Amercian accent, not for me thanks

I'm not sure he's racist towards them, he does however have an irrational fear of them, particularly those under the age of 12
