I see a lot of comments about Fury's chin mainly due to Cunnigham dropping him and Cunnigham fighting mainly as a cruiserweight

Deontay is generally known as the hardest puncher In the heavyweight division and he only weighs a few pounds more than Cunnigham despite being a lot taller. Also Cunnigham punch was right on the chin I'd say that punch would put a lot of heavyweights on their arse. I know Cunnigham is not Wilder but I still think he gets a bad rep about his chin because of that punch in particular

There's no evidence to me to suggest Fury has a weak chin. A weak chin to me is somebody who can't get up after being dropped. Not somebody who gets dropped by an excellent punch then gets up

Fury has a good chin, imo. Any time he has been caught he has recovered very quickly.

I don't think the strength of his chin makes or breaks this fight with Wilder, though.

Im more worried about his reflexs and sharpness. Hos comeback opponents were david haye comebackeqsue

Any HW can be knocked down, it’s how they recover that’s the important bit. Wilder definitely has one punch power, the hardest punching HW out there today, so he has it in his arsenal to spark anyone. I’d like to think Fury will be switched on and focused enough not to let a replay of the Cunningham fight happen again.

Flash knockdowns to a degree, I think the Cunningham knockdown was a slight step up from flash knockdown, but he recovered really well thankfully.

My worry is he’s never tasted a bangers power, not fully. Hopefully he doesn’t tonight

I really think Wilder will have too much of a work rate to lose on points vs Fury. I think people are just going on about the Wlad fight like it was a master class..... Wilder's chin for me still has some question marks and whilst Fury is not a big puncher for his size, he's still an 18 stone man and will carry some power, I think if Fury takes advantage of Wilder's crudness then he will catch him enough times to get to him before the 36 minutes are over...... and off course one of the more obvious options of Wilder hitting too hard for anyone.

Fury has the chin of someone with a brutal father that only loved his son when he showed super-human toughness. He'd try and get up if he had no legs.
Is anyone saying he's chinny ? He isn't.

Still don't think he wins though.

Agreed. Wilder does have a good chin but Wilder has a great punch.

Yeah, these are the thoughts I'm having, and I think you've backed the most likely outcomes.

Contrary to the consensus that Fury's favourite if it goes to points, I also favour Wilder over the distance. There's even a case for Wilder being the one ahead who gets caught and stopped.

Now we know for sure, that Fury's chin is very good. He stood up twice and fought back after the shots of agruably a one of the best punchers ever.

His recovery is impressive.

Not only did he get up. But he got up and won the rest of the rounds finishing them stronger than Wilder.

I'd say he's in the Calzaghe and Froch mould, where his recovery's great but his chin's not the best. If his chin were better he wouldn't have gone down and had that recovery time, so he might've been stopped from accumulation. If he knew how to wrestle he'd be fun to watch in the UFC, because it'd be hard to finish him on the ground with strikes.

I'll never understand how McCall took what he did. His is still the all-time chin for my money.

Quoting my own post, Fury proved his powers of recovery and heart. That second knockdown was brutal, I honestly thought he would need carrying out the ring, remarkable that he not only got up but finished stronger.

That's answered that then. How he got up off that 2nd knockdown ill never know

It reminded me of the fight scene in snatch. You think you have him beat but gets up at the last second. I was sitting there in amazement i think wilder was in disbelief!

I think as a born & bread fighting man, getting up like that from those terminal punches would give Fury great kudos within his community. There is absolutely no shame in being knocked down and rising the way he did .
