Jono Carroll vs Guillaume Frenois

I'm a massive Jono Carroll fan and think he's upped his level significantly and I believe will win a world title. Haven't seen much of Frenois, but at 35 and with carroll's relentless pace a bigger issues for southpaws, i think he blitzes him, gets the stoppage and makes a statement.

Frenois is a far better boxer.. If Frenois has the right ambition and not just there for a payday he will win wide points..

Carroll sets an unreal pace, and the guy who Martin ward just beat has a win over frenois and he's a pressure fighter who doesnt have carrolls engine

Can't remember seeing Frenois but I'm a fan of Carroll. Entertaining inside and outside the ring. Great character
This card on Saturday is wank though

Frenois has a good defence but he hasn't got much pop in his punches and Carroll looks like the more fluid fighter. Carroll is hitting harder and I fancy him to be able to hold his own on the inside or outside. and probably win a decision, provided he has the stamina to do 12 rounds at a decent clip. He's a crafty little fighter with a lot of heart.

I'm leaning that way too.
Frenois for sure is a good boxer, and can be good in his defence as you stated. If he is fighting negatively, it will be a good learning experience for Jono I think. He will have to try and catch him. I hope Carroll doesn't just take counters and try and blast him out. I hope he uses this as a learning fight and trys to avoid punches and counters to really box Frenois. I think taken the right way, this is a good matchup.

would easily be carrols best win. frenois was euro champ and made multiple defenses not long ago. i dont know why he dropped the title despite staying in the same division and keeping active.
dont agree on carroll winning a world title though, imo simply not that level at all, even compared to most weaker champs. i suppose if he gets a vacant fight vs someone really weak he could, maybe billy dib could come out of retirement for yet another gifted title fight

I'm pretty sure frenois will fight on the front foot with his hands high. Carroll should use angles and movement and throw his shots to head and body. Frenois is offensive but doesn't counter and will just turtle up if you throw punches at him but he comes forward pretty much the whole time from what I've seen.

Went the way I thought it would and Jono got badly exposed.. Boxing is the loser again with this fight.. Terrible commentary and result. Frenois won that fight clearly I had him by 6 rounds you can not score points by hitting someone’s guard.. Way to beat Frenois is going to the body hopefully Jono improves and realised where he had the success..

I really enjoyed the fight, nonstop action and credit to both fighters - but Frenois won that in my book. As far that punch after the bell...

115-114 fren but he gave away too many early rounds to clearly get the w. he was much better boxing and movng then coming forward as he was early. were they to rematch right away to me fren has a bigger chance to improve even though hes older . i felt he largely took over when he changed tactics around the 5th
seen a few times now btw carroll hurt a guy early but then really not dent the guy much later. the low stoppage rate is partly because of that...he doesnt hold onto what power he has

dont agree there dave , i thought jono started the fight well , i had a few 50/50 rounds and yeah maybe fen knicked it, i mean fen has loads more experince then jono should of boxed a better fight, if carroll had power fen would be ko out by the 3 rd the amount left hooks carroll landed

Most of Jonos shots landed on gloves or Arms. Frenois has a very good defence and was slipping well also. I had is 2-2 after 4 and 3-2 Carroll after 5 being very kind.. I then gave Frenois every round apart from 1.. Cleaner more eye catching shots coming from Frenois.. He didn’t take much at all.. Was a decent fight but IBF eliminator come on.. Farmer stops both them with ease.. Neither would be in the top 5 in the UK

Had Frenois winning this by a couple of rounds, thought he moved well and landed the cleaner punches particularly through the closing stretch. Disappointing card (as expected) but this was the pick of the bunch I thought.

Farmer is going to expose Jono big time.
While Frenois was blocking Jono's shots (which it appears the judges scored as hits) Farmer will make him out and out miss, then punish him for it.
I think he needs a couple more fights before he trys for the belt...

I thought Frenois won by a few rounds. He dominated the mid to late rounds and couldn’t miss with his simple left which caught Carroll flush on many occasions.

Farmer will starch him on that showing. Farmer has flaws but Carroll is tailor made for him.

My thoughts too. I did add that maybe a couple more fights before Farmer might help, and I still think that- but it has to be against someone who will help to sharpen up Carroll's defence. Just too easy for a guy like Farmer to hit right now.

Hearn likes his boys getting world title fights at an early stage. Charlie Edwards is already trying for his 2nd chance.

id say a perhaps fortunate draw maybe already exposed carrol ...at least in clearly showing hes nowhere near the level where he was being guided towards and perhaps stll appears to be headed (farmer). tbf...i believe a lot of ppl already could see a struggle vs frenos coming and realsed jono wasnt really much beyond that if at all.
for me the frenchman controlled that fight when he started boxing instead of tryng to be an agressor. farmer will easily pick away at carrol.

I got this wrong. I'm a fan of Carroll and I thought he could reach a certain level and I was wrong. Wouldn't mind seeing him in with Ritson at 135...

I don't think your wrong, it's just too soon, maybe 2-3 more fights with the right matchmaking and he will be ready.
As for chucking him in with Ritson, ah, no. His defence isnt there yet and Ritson would clobber him fairly early on I'm afraid. It was one poor performance from an up and comming prospect. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now and see how he does
