well hes one of the most prominent us commentators and public faces for non competior, even if annoying, plus trained some world champs, i can see it...

I always liked Teddy. His pre-fight breakdowns on ESPN were mostly spot on. He's a bit hot-headed and a bit self-absorbed, but he knows his shite.

I find Teddy amusing. I don't mind it. He's commentated for years, trained World Champs, whether you like the guy or not he's a well known figure in Boxing.

ya i agree, hes basically been maybe the biggest/best known non ongoing participant in the us boxing scene for a good while now, other then maybe buffer. hes seems to be well known in pretty much any english speaking boxing market ive seen too. he was a sure thing induction.

im not a fan but there are some things ive liked about him, like his willingness to call bs decisions and want to get deeper into them, and also when he reels in his tongue he can explain things really well in a way new boxing viewers can understand well, but seems most of the time these days when i see him he just talks too much and goes over the top with pretty much everything

also i read his autobiography and he sounds like an absolute nut. he described how he was going to kill donny lalonde and only didnt because lalonde wasnt home at the time when he went over with a gun. so either hes a nut to do that, or he was lying and is a nut for fabricating it.

also literally half his autobiography was him boasting about knocking out huge packs of guys in street fights. sounds like utterly fanciful movie brawl type of nonsense

Atlas has dedicated his life to the sport, and his podcast with Rogan gave a good insight into the kind of work he has done at a grass roots level.

I got annoyed at his rants in the aftermath of Canelo-G 2 & Wilder-Fury though. They were close fights with highly subjective rounds- i don't see why he felt the need to scream robbery into the camera like a wild dog, it doesn't help the sport... it just tarnishes the sports credibility with casuals, and his own credibility with real fans.

Took Mike Tyson off the streets and made him an ATG HW when everyone said he was too short, no Am experience etc.
Worked wonders with Timmy Bradley Jr. And recently we saw his latest fighter end Adonis Stevenson's reign.
Then there is the love it or hate it commentary, either way he spoke his mind, that has to gain some respect.
And then there is alk the behind the scenes stuff, the charity work etc.
He has devoted decades to the sport.

I used to chuckle when he'd break coverage and scream at a ref to "stop the fight! Hey Ref! Stop the fight!" IDK...I like the guy. Self serving/promoting as he may be.
