Joshua Buatsi will take on Renold Quinlan on the Dillian Whyte vs Derek Chisora undercard, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The unbeaten light-heavyweight will defend his WBA International belt at The O2, London, on Saturday, December 22.

Buatsi has won all eight professional fights and knows a win over his Australian foe will move him up the rankings and lead to major honours in 2019.

Buatsi said: "Renold Quinlan is a good, solid fighter. I'm hoping that he will give me the rounds that I need because my last two fights have gone early.

"He's a very tough man and a proud Australian, he'll be coming to fight. This isn't about the title, it's about getting the experience under my belt and pushing on."

Quinlan, from New South Wales, enjoyed success at super-middleweight and extended Chris Eubank Jr into the 10th round before suffering a stoppage loss in February 2017.

This will be his second fight on British soil and the 29-year-old has promised to give Buatsi his toughest test since joining the paid ranks.

Quinlan said: "I've seen bits of Buatsi and he's nothing special. He hasn't fought anyone like me yet and I can't wait to give him a great fight.

"I'm delighted to be returning to the UK on such a big card and I'll be putting on a great performance for all my UK fans."

Buatsi, guided by Anthony Joshua, will be back at The O2 on the undercard for the pre-Christmas cracker, that sees heavyweight rivals Whyte and Chisora meet again.

Alright, I'm on my own on this, but it's actually not that bad.
Renold is tough enough to hang in there and give Buatsi some rounds. Maybe 5 or 6 if he gets through the first. He does have a bit of power and that might help Buatsi learn to put on a defensive game instead of going hammer and tongs on the offensive.
A win against Quinlan will also give him a boost in the rankings, maybe to #25 ish on boxrec at least. Personally I think this is a nice wee step up for Buatsi.
Although I still think there are unanswered questions at the domestic level and that bugs me..

its not that bad for the stage hes at, for some reason ppl seem to want to really rush our top talents at 175. yardes been pro only 3 years and buatsi only since last year

seems to be more respect for guys like hosea burton who 7 years in still faces low level journeyman after low level journeyman

Burton is a worry. I don't know why he has sort of stalled in his level of opponent. I see him as pretty decent, but we will not know for sure until he is actually tested.
The other thing is (as I mentioned) the decent domestic clutch of LHW's not fighting each other.
The last top UK LHW fight was the one round Johnson Buggsy match.
The current top UK LHW's are all picking off shore opponents.

I'll be interested to see this, Buatsi has got talent. Eubank got to Quinlan eventually as a small SMW, how does Josh do?

Eubank took ages to put Quinlan away, so not sure how this is too bad a fight for Buatsi. I reckon it’d be an upgrade for Yarde too.

It’s frustrating to have Burton there fighting nobodies, he’s made Yarde’s opponents look great.

That wasn’t initial thought too but then when I thought some more, Eubank is only really a middleweight and a sharp volume puncher rather than a hard one

True that Jammy. Although that fight probably said more about Hooper's chin and recovery powers than Quinlan's ability to finish.

I don't mind it, it will be nice to see Buatsi facing someone with a bit of ambition, who will at least be trying to win.

My only worry is the size difference, Quinlans best win came at middleweight and he was stoped by a small super middleweight last time he came to the UK.

Buatsi KO mid rounds.

There had been talk of Buatsi vs Burton happening on this card.

Burton's height and reach could have made it awkward for a couple rounds. But Buatsi would win handily imo.

Burton is solid domestic level, but Buatsi looks like he could go all the way.

This feels like a pretty wide mismatch to me, but an agreeable risk for Quinlan because Buatsi's not usually spiteful. I think he'll just work him over.

Dunno about that, the quotes from him seem to suggest he knows he is there to do a job.

He doesn't come across particularly confident, but maybe that is just his manner.

From what little i've seen, he seems like an honest pro who will at least give it a go.

Not that it will help him.

Apparently Burton was offered the fight but his team turned it down, don’t know what the numbers were

Buatsi stops him for me, its a step up for Buatsi which is a good thing, he is only young,a stacked division, why is there a rush
