the joshua vs povetkin fight was NOT on usa PPV
btw those numbers just show that if ppv price in USA would be ~$25 boxing would be much more popular and ppv would generate more money, a lot of people just doesn't have access to fights because it's too expensive for them.dickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55the uk PPV price was $19.95 pounds=$25 X 1.113 million= $28 million---for joshua vs povetkindagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25Wilder for Fury rematch will earn less than Joshua for fighting Pulev... both the pacquiao vs mayweather & mcgregor vs mayweather fights charged $100 for usa PPV. they both grossed $500 million PPV worldwide.dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 13:06btw those numbers just show that if ppv price in USA would be ~$25 boxing would be much more popular and ppv would generate more money, a lot of people just doesn't have access to fights because it's too expensive for them.dickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55the uk PPV price was $19.95 pounds=$25 X 1.113 million= $28 million---for joshua vs povetkindagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25

FMJ vs Pac/McGregor were huge fights and those fights shouldn't be compared to any other fights, don't you think that regular ppv fights should charge significantly less than FMJ vs Pac/McGregor? imo it would make sense.dickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 13:22both the pacquiao vs mayweather & mcgregor vs mayweather fights charged $100 for usa PPV. they both grossed $500 million PPV worldwide.dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 13:06btw those numbers just show that if ppv price in USA would be ~$25 boxing would be much more popular and ppv would generate more money, a lot of people just doesn't have access to fights because it's too expensive for them.dickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55

He is a long way off earning what Joshua does, but that doesn't mean he isn't in a position to earn a lot of money.dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25Wilder for Fury rematch will earn less than Joshua for fighting Pulev... Wilder and Fury combined earned less than Joshua for fighting Povetkin

he could well negotiate a 40% split with Joshua to fight him in April at Wembley, but if he fight Fury in Vegas instead he would still be looking at 8 figures.
Even if he fights Brezeale, he would expect to get 1-2 million, not bad for a fight he would be a huge favourite in.
Also, the Joshua and Fury fights will still be there afterwards.
i thought aj vs pov broke the previous 1.2m record? also you trimmed like 50 cents off the aj vs pov cost which does add up over 1.2m buysdickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55the uk PPV price was $19.95 pounds=$25 X 1.113 million= $28 million---for joshua vs povetkindagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25Wilder for Fury rematch will earn less than Joshua for fighting Pulev... Need to add in the UK numbers for Fury wilder for this to be total revenue. I'm not sure what any of this proves, but numbers are numbers.jamamb wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 18:50i thought aj vs pov broke the previous 1.2m record? also you trimmed like 50 cents off the aj vs pov cost which does add up over 1.2m buysdickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55the uk PPV price was $19.95 pounds=$25 X 1.113 million= $28 million---for joshua vs povetkindagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25

those werent the actual fighter payments either btw
It proves they were both fights that generated a lot of money but by different means. Plenty of money in a Wilder v Fury rematch for both fighters. They can make decent money and increase their exposure fighting each other so don't need to accept the thin edge of the wedge fighting Joshua at Wembley with lots of other concessions at this time. That can wait.oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 18:52Need to add in the UK numbers for Fury wilder for this to be total revenue. I'm all for the rematch. I just don't get fans arguing who makes what, etc. Also comparing number of PPV's when one country is at 1/3 of other country's price and folks arguing how the number of views was more for this than that without taking total dollars into the equation, as is the case above.ewenhay wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 19:39It proves they were both fights that generated a lot of money but by different means. Making the rematch is a smart move at this time. It's a little bit like Bowe and Holyfield having their fights while Lewis was also on the scene.

Yeah I know it's all bollocks.
They're more interested in Joshua's payslip than his boxing
i used today's rate of exchange pound= $1.26- of course, the pound has been higher in the past.jamamb wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 18:50i thought aj vs pov broke the previous 1.2m record? also you trimmed like 50 cents off the aj vs pov cost which does add up over 1.2m buysdickbelden wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 12:55the uk PPV price was $19.95 pounds=$25 X 1.113 million= $28 million---for joshua vs povetkindagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25

AJ earns the big bucks! So what? AJ could earn more for fighting David Price than Fury and Wilder would in a rematch! Hearn has made AJ a brand! He's done an amazing job!dagilechia wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 10:25Wilder for Fury rematch will earn less than Joshua for fighting Pulev... What i meant is just that Wilder of course is in good position but AJ is still in a much better position. And Joshua imo is a better product.Stuarty wrote: ↑15 Dec 2018, 02:04AJ earns the big bucks! You could have a small cafe that does the best burgers in town! All the best ingredients, personal service, top quality food! Then you could have a McDs right next door! The brand will outsell the quality all day! Doesn't mean it's a better product!
